Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton approved the payment of $48 million in speeches for her husband according to Bill Fitton, head of Judicial Watch.
This confirms previous reports that she used her office to promote pay-to-play schemes that benefited her family and the Clinton Foundation.
Ignoring obvious conflicts of interest and her promise to vet any possible deals that might be suspicious, Clinton went ahead and authorized a variety of different schemes demonstrating her hypocrisy, stealth, recklessness and treachery that is now being revealed in the Uranium One scandal.
What Fitton makes clear is that this lawlessness at the top was ignored by both Republicans and Democrats as well as the top officials in the Obama Administration.
We are seeing today the triumph of the National Security State which uses secrecy to promote criminal behavior in the name of patriotism with our endless wars that bring home giant dividends to those who are part of the military-industrial complex.
The Clintons are as much a symptom as they are a cause since the same charges can be brought against the Bush clan, as well as other leading members of the GOP like John McCain.
To the extent that Trump was supposed to represent movement away from this pattern as evidenced by his commitment to drain the swamp, he and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have so far fallen very short of achieving that important goal.
Some would argue that Trump, himself, is just the latest version of the Deep State Swamp, and that he has conned the public into thinking he is somehow different. With a foreign policy that continues our overseas interventions (can you say Niger?) where US forces are embedded in over a hundred countries with little Congressional oversight or public awareness, it is clear to this observer that Trump’s “dubious nationalism” is little different from McCain’s globalism, W’s Neocon-inspired Pax Americana, or Hillary’s neoliberal agenda for “humanitarian interventions!”
They all rely on the notion of “Global Manifest Destiny” based on “American exceptionalism” with complete disregard for international law or respect for the legitimate interests of other powers.
That high level of hubris is showing up today with Trump’s belligerent attitude towards North Korea, Iran, China and to a lesser extent, Russia, as his “generals” perpetuate the same policies of confrontation used by his predecessors that now have us on the verge of nuclear war.
The massive corruption at the heart of our government, as well as the two-party tyranny running things from the District of Criminals, is being revealed more and more every day. But to the extent that the Muellers, Comeys, Holders, Lynches, Sessions and others designated to hold officials accountable are themselves deeply compromised, the legitimate hope of decent citizens for the rule of law is rapidly fading.
That is leading inexorably to the rise of extremes on both sides as ANTIFA is poised for its November 4th rampage and the forces of Steve Bannon are likewise readying for its efforts to preserve what some call “white privilege” and others basic constitutional rights.
Can sanity prevail in the face of so much darkness? Can some form of balance and convergence around a narrow left/right agenda that is for peace, prosperity and accountability emerge before the country descends into civil war?
I have long stated that we passed the tipping point decades ago. With an electorate that remains confused by false flag events, phony wars and propaganda targeted at their special needs, and a national security state operating secretly from behind the scenes, the reality is the US is on a direct path to implosion.
We shall see soon enough what, if any, forces can rally our once great Republic and restore the level of civility needed to bring us through this raging storm.
