The TRUTH Movement had no greater friend than Michael Ruppert
According to various news reports, Michael Ruppert, founder of FromTheWilderness.com and Collapsenet.com passed away on Sunday evening, April 13. Truly, a great beacon of light went out in the world of men that evening. Mike Ruppert was an extraordinary seeker and speaker of the truth. He was also one of those wise, old souls who moved among his peers like a lion roaming the jungle.
One of the editors of State of the Nation was fortunate to know an intimate spiritual advisor to Michael back in the first decade of this new millennium. In fact, the spiritual advisor was so taken by Michael’s genuine commitment to the truth, courage in the face of extreme adversities, and enduring positive attitude, that he joined his cause. As he was a close friend of ours, we knew this to be out of character for him. Many a conversation with the spiritual advisor centered around how deeply impressed he was with Michael Ruppert’s various writings and truth initiatives.
Much can be written about the many topics that Michael either opened up on the internet, or gave renewed impetus to. His was an extremely open and brilliant mind. He was capable of changing his viewpoint in a heartbeat when sufficient proof and/or evidence compelled him to do so. And he always left open the possibility that other angles ought to be considered regardless of how cut and dried any case might appear.
Peak Oil, of course, will always be remembered as one of his greatest works. So will his exposure of the CIA’s involvement in drug-running operations throughout the USA. His Collapsenet.com website has proven to be an excellent resource for the many who know where this nation is heading. No matter where he set his sights upon, he fully engaged the issues, attempted to address the differences of opinion, and sought to serve as a bridge to the many disparate truth groups which now abound.
Much more can be written about Michael Ruppert, as it surely will be by the alternative news realm. Hopefully as his legacy is reviewed, he will be remembered as one of the first among us to strike at the root. Living and working on the cutting edge as he did, made him vulnerable to extraordinary and powerful forces whose only intentions are to squelch the truth. Michael’s journey through life, and around the world, was dictated to a great extent by the projection of those forces into his life.
We seriously wonder if it was those same forces which are responsible for his death. The circumstances surrounding his death, as well as the comments by those who were close to him, are quite curious. Almost pre-emptive, if you will. The day and the time and the circumstances of his death do not quite add up, as they rarely do when suicide is alleged. After all, everyone reading this eulogy probably knows of more people suicided by the CIA than they care to think about. Remember Gary Webb of the San Jose Mercury News ‘committed suicide’ by shooting himself — TWICE — after exposing the CIA as follows:
“Webb investigated Nicaraguans linked to the CIA-backed Contras who had smuggled cocaine into the U.S. Their smuggled cocaine was distributed as crack cocaine in Los Angeles, with the profits funneled back to the Contras. Webb also alleged that this influx of Nicaraguan-supplied cocaine sparked, and significantly fueled, the widespread crack cocaine epidemic that swept through many U.S. cities during the 1980s. According to Webb, the CIA was aware of the cocaine transactions and the large shipments of drugs into the U.S. by Contra personnel. Webb charged that theReagan administration shielded inner-city drug dealers from prosecution in order to raise money for the Contras, especially after Congress passed the Boland Amendment, which prohibited direct Contra funding.”

Now consider that Michael Ruppert aggressively participated in the dissemination of this same narrative … across the internet, and wherever he spoke and lectured since 1996. He even went so far as “to confronts Bill Clinton’s CIA Director John Deutch about the CIA’s involvement in cocaine smuggling” in an LA Town Hall meeting shown on C-SPAN. The actual exchange can be viewed on the YouTube video that follows.
If you watched the video above, you understand that it doesn’t get bigger than that. Those comments alone, which Michael Ruppert made directly to CIA Director John Deutch in the presence of various members of the US Congress, are enough to get a hundred men, nay a thousand men, killed for telling the raw and unvarnished truth.
Who among us has ever had the opportunity to speak truth to power like Michael Ruppert? And then did so without blinking an eye!

Author’s Note:
There are a good of different takes on Michael Ruppert’s life and intentions now making their way onto the net. We had some of the same concerns at one point. However, when we, too, were subjected to the very same types of ad hominem attacks, fabricated stories about our work and lives, gross misrepresentations of facts and figures, deliberately misleading statements about intentions, as well as loads of fiction and falsehood with every new telling of our story, we realized how easy to is to ruin a person on the internet.
Yes, such ruination of character and misrepresentation of motivation can be accomplished with the push of the “publish button” by virtually anyone, anytime, anywhere. We simply don’t buy the many distortions of Michael Ruppert because we had firsthand accounts of him as a whole person. That’s not to say that he was without his faults; who among us is free from bias or misunderstanding?
At the end of the day, we would challenge anyone to watch the YouTube video above. No matter who you are, such a testimony as offered by Michael Ruppert put a target on his back for the rest of this lifetime. How many of you armchair critics ever did that in your lifetime?
We’re sorry, we can’t hear you! How many times?!
