Alex Jones says Trump called to thank him for his support

President-elect Donald Trump called Alex Jones to thank him and his audience for the support he received during the campaign, according to a video the far-right conspiracy theorist and publisher of Infowars.com posted over the weekend.

“He said, ‘Listen, Alex, I just talked to kings and queens of the world, world leaders — you name it,’ but he said, ‘It doesn’t matter, I wanted to talk to you, to thank your audience, and I’ll be on the next few weeks to thank them,’” Jones recalled. “I said, ‘Is this is a private call?’ And he said, ‘No, I want to thank your viewers, thank your listeners for standing up for this republic, we know what you did early on, throughout this campaign, standing up for what’s right.’”

Jones, who interviewed Trump in December 2015, is no stranger to controversy. He called Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton “an abject psychopathic demon from hell” who is determined to “destroy the planet.” He also said Trump was victorious last week, despite the Democrats, who he claimed “stole five states on Nov. 8.”

But his controversies go much further back than this election cycle.

According to an archive of his website, his own biography describes him as one of the first people who “predicted the attacks on September 11th, 2001, and is considered one of the very first founding fathers of the 9-11 Truth Movement.”

In a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone, Jones said the 9/11 attacks were “controlled demolitions” carried out by the federal government:

Seven weeks later, Jones became the only radio host in America to begin his September 11th broadcast with a tirade against the U.S. government. “I went on the air and said, ‘Those were controlled demolitions. You just watched the government blow up the World Trade Center.’ I lost 70 percent of my affiliates that day. Station managers asked me, ‘Do you want to be on this crusade going nowhere, or do you want to be a star?’ I’m proud I never compromised.”

Nevertheless, Trump apparently wants to continue his association with this very fringe radio host. Jones said the president-elect’s call over the weekend “shows he’s not the average elitist, these stuck up nobodies who believe they control the world, who believe everybody’s an idiot.”

“We finally have people in Washington who actually listen to the people and don’t buy the propaganda of the big main-line corporations that are using weaponized media to mind-control simple-minded people,” Jones said.

In addition, Jones appears to very forcefully agree with Trump’s recent Twitter attack on the New York Times and his persistent rejection of the mainstream media:

You are pathetic, Fox News, fake right-wing news. You are pathetic, CNN. You are pathetic, MSNBC. You are demoralized, you are defeated, you are pathetic, you are overrun. Your hoaxes do not work on us. You are absolute enemies of the country. We’re going to drain the swamp and you know you’re scum.

He’s not calling other media, he’s not meeting with other media, he’s not talking to media. He wanted to directly talk to you and thank you because you’re the people, you’re the Americans, you’re the bitter clingers, you’re the people they couldn’t break your will, they couldn’t mind control you, you’re the core that’s going to restore the Republic.

It is not clear when exactly Trump plans to call into Jones’ radio program. During the video, he said the billionaire businessman said he will reach out “in the next few weeks.”
