Yemen Update
by Rich Scheck
The tragedy that is Yemen is beyond description! The American people have been spared an understanding of that appalling situation by a complicit media which allows the US backed Saudi attack on that impoverished nation to go unmentioned.
The humanitarian crisis has continued and expanded in the three years since the war started. Now comes the first inklings of hope from unexpected sources in Congress and elsewhere. http://www.thedailybeast.com/koch-brother-joins-fight-to-stop-americas-involvement-in-the-yemen-war
Fueled by bipartisan outrage at Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the apparent murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a new effort to either end or legally authorize US involvement will probably go to a vote in the lame-duck session following the election.

With 73 co-sponsors there is reason to hope for a Congressional resolution to stop our participation in the war. The possibility for a cease-fire and/or UN sponsored peace talks as demanded by Secretary of Defense James Mattis has also increased in response to the Khasoggi affair.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also insisted the Saudis cease bombing populated areas of the war-torn and disease ravaged nation that many have labeled as war crimes. With two top cabinet officials speaking out, it looks as if President Trump has authorized a change in policy reflecting disgust with MbS and his filthy war.
Is all this mere window-dressing by the Administration, political leaders and Mr. Koch? Does it represent an authentic effort to end an incredible abuse of US power in support of a rogue regime and its young leader? http://news.antiwar.com/2018/11/02/two-days-after-us-call-for-ceasefire-saudis-pound-yemen/
