Can Trump Survive?

A recent article at State of the Nation 2012 provides an excellent analysis of the current crisis confronting Trump and the American people in the run-up to the 2018 mid-term elections: https://stateofthenation2012.com/?p=102755

Every day that goes by that Trump doesn’t fire Sessions is a day he allows the forces aligned against him to continue their assault on him.

Trump has his obvious issues although arguably “legally” innocent as Alan Dershowitz, Mark Levin and others have pointed out regarding Cohen’s allegations of campaign finance abuses which manifestly do not rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors required by the Constitution for Impeachment.

But “politically” he appears guilty and is in huge trouble for a variety of reasons.

His right wing, conservative, Always Trump base will likely lose enthusiasm the more his seedy past and shady business dealings are revealed. He has always been vulnerable to this assessment and part of his appeal was as the lesser of two evils compared to “Corrupt Hillary!” That is now all but gone as a result of recent developments.

Porn stars, hush money, criminal associates like Felix Sater, Manafort and Cohen plus the appearance of impropriety regarding his relationship to Putin: it’s a devastating combination that the Left and MSM are pounding away at every day!

Can he withstand the onslaught? Will this pressure force him to act irrationally by attacking Iran? Is a false flag event in the offing to provide an excuse to change the subject? Perhaps.

Trump surprised everyone by winning in 2016. But now we know so much more about him. He can blame his failure to “drain the swamp” on Sessions and the Obama DOJ/FBI cabal of Comey, Mueller, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, et al.

But failed he has………….despite the hope porn emerging from the likes of QANON, Steve Pieczenik and his other apologists.

I think the odds of Trump surviving are growing slimmer by the moment, especially to the extent that the economic and employment figures are hyped!

Even if he finally fires Sessions……….and Mueller and Rosenstein……….it will likely be too little, too late to save his presidency!  We will know soon enough.

An even more serious issue is what will emerge after Trump is gone. Can some viable, sane middle ground be carved out of the enormous populist outrage we witnessed on both the Left (Sanders) and Right (Trump) in 2016?

Here is one writer’s prescription for achieving that goal: https://stateofthenation2012.com/?p=32281
