N. B.: On February 25th of this year, I announced the formation of
the American Peace Party (APP) to be formally launched on June 1st.
With that date fast approaching, I feel compelled to report on what has

Below is my update.
George Carlin told us years ago: if voting mattered “they” wouldn’t
let us do it. Yet we persist, in part out of ignorance; in part out of our
basic civic duty; in part as a gesture of hope that he was wrong and
that maybe, just maybe, this time it will make a difference.
That was clearly what happened in 2008 with Obama.
It is happening again this year…..twice: once with The Donald and
once with the man from Vermont who is making Hillary feel the Bern!

others clearly demonstrate, it is all an illusion.
Nothing is gonna change in the immediate future. Trump is showing
clear signs of being co-opted; Bernie will cave into the warmongers
if elected, and Hillary will do exactly what everyone knows she will do
based on her neoliberal, progressive internationalism.

He calls the aspiring first female president “Killary” because he is
convinced that her past actions and present rhetoric guarantee she will
replicate the failed foreign policy that has been at the basis of the
Washington consensus (see Andrew Bacevich) for many decades.
Whether neoliberal or neocon, this means lots of neo (new) wars in the
Middle East, Ukraine, North Africa, South Asia and god forbid, with Russia
and/or China.
That’s what’s in store with her. Bernie has shown little willingness to
break with that agenda despite posing as a lefty concerned with domestic
issues rather than foreign policy.
And Trump is destined to fall on his own petard despite calling for better
relations with Russia and a new relationship with NATO. His stronger
military is bound to be used to expand our influence abroad rather than
defend “America first” here at home, if the gurus who are advising him
behind the scenes and who love pulling off false flags have their way.
As for my big dream of a new political party grounded in a common
peace agenda bridging the antiwar right (paleo-conservatives, Tea Party
members and Libertarians) with the anti-war left (environmentalists, New-
Agers, and Occupy Wall Street idealists), that is looking quite bleak right now.
As countless excellent observers are describing in their various big
picture summaries of the current situation, the immediate future gives
virtually no reason for anyone to be even slightly optimistic that the West
will pull back from its imperial designs and hegemonic pretensions!
Therefore, the prospect for peace and the APP are dim!
Will war with Russia be the basis for an October Surprise that allows

Perhaps. A war with Russia will provide a perfect excuse to evoke
a national security emergency, announce the election will be postponed
and have Obama stay on as Dictator-In-Chief.
What I can say for sure is that the entire election process is suspect,
the voters are likely to be screwed and the insurgencies within the two
mainstream parties (Trump and Sanders) that could have made a real
difference had they combined forces—as the APP suggested—will
probably succumb to the divide and conquer strategy developed by the
global elite to maintain their domination.
Perhaps as things continue to decay over the coming years, a peace
party will finally emerge out of the ruins of our once great Republic.
As things now stand, June 1st will come and go with no APP to lead
the peace movement that is longing to be born in America.

There is much more to say but I will end on this note. As he prepares
to depart for a visit to Viet Nam and Japan, few mainstream pundits
will remind the public that the Nobel Peace Prize winner has endorsed
the expenditure of almost 1 trillion dollars to modernize our nuclear

President Obama will have the imperial duty of visiting one country
which we decimated with Agent Orange and endless bombs from
our B52’s and then heading to the nation we double nuked at the

It is a spectacle that is easy to pull off at a time in our history when
the voters are dumbed down, manipulated and endlessly distracted
by an entertainment industry that produces propaganda and distractions
far more effectively than anything the Soviets or Nazis did.
So I repeat: elections are an allusion. The APP has died in stillbirth.
And our descendants are faced with a Huxwellian world of endless
wars, endless entertainment and a future fraught with the potential
for a singularity that is totalitarian and dehumanizing à la The Hunger
Games.
