FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro addressed media Saturday evening and said the 50th floor “apartment was entirely on fire.”
“This was a very difficult fire. As you can imagine, the apartment is quite large, we are 50 stories up. The rest of the building had a considerable amount of smoke. 200 Firefighters and EMS members are on scene,” Nigro said.
“We found fire on the 50th floor of the building. The apartment was entirely on fire. Members pushed in heroically, they were knocking down the fire,” Nigro explained, adding that the blaze was under control at around 7:45p.m.
Eric Trump also thanked the “amazing men and women of the NYFD” for their service on Saturday.
“Thank you to the amazing men and women of the NYFD who extinguished a fire in a residential apartment at @TrumpTower. The @FDNY and @NYPD are truly some of the most incredible people anywhere!” Eric Trump wrote.

Saturday’s blaze was the second time this year that President Trump’s signature building in New York City had caught fire.
In January, an electrical box sent smoke and flames flying in the air from the roof of Trump Tower. No injuries were reported, and the building was not evacuated.
