Eric Holder: ‘Dangerous,’ ‘Cruel’ to Fire McCabe
By Wanda Carruthers

Former Attorney General Eric Holder blasted the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, calling the move “dangerous” and “cruel,” The Hill reported Saturday.
“Analyze McCabe firing on two levels: the substance and the timing. We don’t know enough about the substance yet. The timing appears cruel and a cave that compromised DOJ independence to please an increasingly erratic President who should’ve played no role here. This is dangerous,” Holder tweeted early Saturday morning just hours after McCabe’s firing was announced.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe late Friday evening, releasing a statement that cited his “unauthorized disclosure to the news media” and stated he lacked “candor” with Justice Department investigators. The move took place two days before McCabe was scheduled to begin his retirement on Sunday and puts his pension at risk.
McCabe quickly responded to the announcement of his firing, claiming in a statement released Friday night that it was an attempt to undermine the Russia probe being conducted by special prosecutor Robert Mueller. McCabe had stepped down from his post earlier this year and was on leave before his retirement was scheduled to begin.
President Donald Trump reacted to the firing on Friday, tweeting it was “a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI – A great day for Democracy.”
