A Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee acted as an extra lawyer for White House senior adviser Jared Kushner when he interviewed with the committee on Tuesday in the ongoing Russia probe, said Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the committee.
“Mr. [Trey] Gowdy took the role as a second attorney for Mr. Kushner,” Schiff of California told reporters.
Gowdy said Democrats on the panel uncovered “zero” new or revelatory information in over three hours of questioning Kushner. He also said they, “even ran out of questions.” Members of both parties, though, said the president’s son-in-law was cooperative during the interview.
Schiff was slammed for his comments.
“I totally disagree with that,” Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., told The Hill.“That’s horses—.”
“I can’t believe that. I haven’t heard that. That’s unfortunate,” he said when read the remarks by Schiff.
“For somebody to come out that and say that about another member is completely inappropriate and I can’t believe he said that.”
