Former President Barack Obama was booed Monday night after President Donald Trump took a verbal shot at him during a speech.
Trump spoke at the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree, which is taking place at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. He used the opportunity to deliver a well-placed jab at his predecessor.
“By the way, just a question,” Trump said. “Did President Obama ever come to a jamboree?”
The crowd cheered in support of Trump and some boos, presumably directed at Obama, could also be heard.
“The answer is no, but we’ll be back,” Trump said.
The Hill reported Obama recorded a video message that was played at the 2010 National Jamboree, but he never attended the event in person.
According to The Hill, as a child, President Obama was a member of the Indonesian Scout Association and reached the equivalent of Cub Scout. President Trump was not a scout.
The National Jamboree is generally held every four years. During Obama’s two terms in office, one occurred in 2010 and another in 2013.
CBS News reported eight presidents have spoken in person at the event during its history that dates back to 1937, including former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George H.W. Bush.
