Facebook is upping their role of puppet master and censors more Facebook posts on a daily basis. The social media monster has been deleting 66,000 posts a week. So how do they determine what to trash? Anything they deem “hate speech.”
So they are only deleting hate speech? Why is that a bad thing? Here’s why: Facebook does not actually delete posts that are truly rimming with hatred and slander. Instead they deem messages that speak out against the left and promote conservative values as sexist, racist, bigotry. Those are the “hate” posts that are being deleted.
Not to mention, this goes completely against our first amendment right of free speech.
I also find their little system interesting because a several months ago, I was threatened by a woman on Facebook for no other reason that she did not agree with my Conservative views. She called me many colorful names, and even threatened that she was coming for me. Here is a screenshot of just one of the messages she sent me.
I still have these messages saved in my inbox and reported it, as well as sent Facebook screenshots of her threats. They still have done nothing. I have reached out to them many times and they continue to ignore it. So, why do they ignore actual, legitimate threats such as what I received, or the ones that are posted daily about killing Conservatives and President Trump, to only focus on anything that the left could possibly find offensive?
NEW YORK — Facebook is deleting about 66,000 posts a week as the social media giant cracks down on what it considers to be hate speech.
The company said in a blog post Tuesday that deleting posts can “feel like censorship,” but that it is working on explaining its process better.
Facebook says it defines hate speech as attacks on people based on their race, sexual orientation and other “protected characteristics.” The Menlo Park, California, company says it mostly relies on its nearly two billion users to report any hateful posts they see. Workers then review the posts and decide whether to delete it.
Facebook Inc. says it has 4,500 workers reviewing posts and plans to hire 3,000 more in the next year.
The deleted posts went up over the last two months.
I say we need a new social media site that is not filled with censorship. There are some up and coming sites, such as besoc.net that have kicked off. Perhaps one of them will be the next Facebook, minus the double standards.
