SBNationThe New England Patriots pulled off the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history to win the first Lombardi Trophy ever decided by an overtime game.
To achieve the 34-28 win, there was a whole lot of passing by Tom Brady and the Patriots offense to orchestrate digging out of a 28-3 hole, so it’s not surprising that Super Bowl LI was a record-setter.
Altogether, 24 records were topped and seven were tied:
Some of the records — like Brady’s career completions and touchdowns — were already his before the game and were just increased in Houston. But there’s no doubt about it, Super Bowl LI posted some statistics that will be hard for future teams to match.
