President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court has “restored the faith of voters,” GOP political consultant Mary Matalin told Newsmax TV Wednesday.
In an interview on “The Steve Malzberg Show,” Matalin, a former adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney and onetime campaign director for President George W. Bush, lauded Trump for “operating at warp speed” on his promises to Americans, calling it “unprecedented” – and warning that Democratic opposition to hi is just “increasing the intensity of the support” for the president.
His pick of Gorsuch was the best decision yet, she said.
“He has restored the faith of voters who have been squashed for decades now,” she said. “What he said last night in nominating this incredible Justice [Antonin] Scalia replacement, ‘I’m a man of my word, I’m going to keep my word’ – on everything, on the pipeline, on Obamacare, on everything that everyone said couldn’t be done.”
“This is really, really a great start of a new paradigm,” she added.
Matalin also praised Trump’s actions on the three top issues he highlighted in his presidential campaign: “the economy, immigration, and security.”
“They’re absolutely inextricably intertwined and he’s dealing with all of them,” she said. “It’s just stunning what he’s getting done and his people are getting done – and because they’re doing it with such authority and a mandate in complying with what the voters have asked for, it’s a complete breakthrough to a new kind of politics we haven’t seen since our founding.”
