Apparently not even President Donald Trump’s 10-year-old son, Barron, is safe from vicious attacks from leftists suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
On inauguration weekend, leftist comedians and writers took to Twitter to call Barron a “rapist” and a “homeschool shooter” and to suggest the boy is an arsonist.
“Saturday Night Live” writer Katie Rich tweeted Friday: “Barron will be this country’s first homeschool shooter.”

While Rich managed to get in a dig on homeschoolers, she apparently is unaware that Barron isn’t even homeschooled. He attends Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York.
More than 79,000 people signed a petition to have Rich fired, and she has since deleted her tweet. “Saturday Night Live” has reportedly suspended Rich indefinitely, according to TMZ. NBC said it had no comment on her behavior.
“I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet,” Rich tweeted Monday. “I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.”
But the attacks on Barron didn’t end there.
Comedy Central writer Stephen Spinola joined in the attacks by tweeting Friday that Barron resembles a “rapist” with a “small PP.” Spinola even joked that he hoped Barron would rape his own mother.
“Barron Trump looks like a very handsome date-rapist-to-be,” Spinola wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
Spinola followed his comment with another eye-popping tweet: “I don’t want my Mom to get raped, but if she does I hope it’s by Barron Trump – small pp would be painless & we’d win lots of money in court.”
On Monday, Spinola tweeted: “I believe in Math and the stats are saying I made a bad joke. I truly apologize if it hurt Barron Trump’s feelings. And thats [sic] all I can say.”
Comedian Matt Oswalt also took a crack aimed at the 10-year-old Trump, tweeting: “Barron Trump is wandering around the White House right now looking for stuff to burn.”
By contrast, public figures and members of the media vehemently denounced any targeting of Sasha and Malia Obama, as the girls were considered off limits to jokes and public scrutiny.
For example, former Hill staffer Elizabeth Lauten sparked outrage in 2014 and resigned from her position after she suggested on her private Facebook page that Obama’s teenage daughters should have shown “a little class” when they attended a Thanksgiving turkey pardoning ceremony.
The girls, who had a look of boredom on their faces, attended the event wearing mini skirts and slouchy sweaters.
“Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class,” Lauten wrote. “Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at the bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events.”

Within hours of her original post – and amid an onslaught of public condemnation – Lauten tweeted an apology:
“When I first posted on Facebook I reacted to an article and I quickly judged the two young ladies in a way that I would never have wanted to be judged myself as a teenager,” Lauten wrote. “After many hours of prayer, talking to my parents, and re-reading my words online I can see more clearly just how hurtful my words were.”
At the time, then-RNC communications director Sean Spicer, who is now President Trump’s White House press secretary, noted the media’s blatant double standard when it comes to coverage of children in the White House.
“Children, especially the first daughters, are off limits. While the comments were inappropriate and insensitive, the mainstream media’s coverage of this story is appalling,” said Sean Spicer in a series of tweets following the Lauten comments. “In over 20 years in politics I have never seen 1 of the countless inappropriate comments by Democrats ever covered to a faction [sic] of this.”
As for the disparaging comments targeting Barron Trump over inauguration weekend, MRCTV’s Liam Clancy observed:
“These attacks also show the strange projection of the left. To the average person, Barron looks like a normal, cute American child. To the left, he is an autistic school-shooter, arsonist rapist-to-be and the embodiment of white, male privilege. This is just another sign of leftist hysteria surrounding anything related to President Trump.”
