Donald Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani on Sunday defended the GOP nominee’s accusations that the election is rigged — declaring he’s seen proof of Democrats stealing elections and yet “very few situations where Republicans cheat.”
In an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” the former New York City mayor decried dirty politics in past big-city elections — including his own.
“I remember a case where I was associate attorney general where 720 dead people voted in Chicago in 1982,” he said. “I remember in my own election, about 60 dead people voted. So I can’t sit here and tell you that [Democrats] don’t cheat.”
“And I know because they control the polling places in these areas,” he charged. “There’s no Republicans. It’s very hard to get people there who will challenge votes. So what they do is they leave dead people on the roles and pay people to vote for those dead people.”
“We do cheat — we have people that cheat in elections,” he added. “” I found very few situations where Republicans cheat.”
Trump has often argued the election is being rigged by the campaign of Hillary Clinton and media outlets.
Giuliani also said he found hacked emails released by WikiLeaks“very refreshing” for proving Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as a “liar” and “phony.”
“You know, I find WikiLeaks very refreshing,” Giuliani said. “This is the Hillary Clinton I knew existed. Never had proof.”
“People would say she’s a socialist, I would say ‘okay you can’t prove it.’ She was once in Canada, talking to the Canadian bank or whatever and says ‘I like your system your socialized system of medicine a lot better than ours. I say something private that’s different than something public.’
“I’ve always known she was a liar and over and over again a phony.”
