To paraphrase what former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel once said: “The only thing
worse than a soldier dying in vain is more soldiers dying in vain!”

Gravel earned a unique place in American history by reading the Pentagon Papers
into the Congressional Record and leading the fight against the Viet Nam War.
The faux patriots and bipartisan neocons who are lusting to send more of our
children to kill and die to fight Cheney’s Long War need to be sent far away from
control of our nation’s foreign policy.
Virtually all the presidential candidates are either outright hawks or ambivalent
ones like Rand Paul. Bernie (The Socialist) Sanders is Obamaesque in his
implicitly anti-war stance. Since his emphasis on domestic issues is so pronounced,
it is almost impossible to hear his occasional denunciation of US imperialism and
harder for some to take him seriously having been burnt by the Nobel Peace Prize
winner in 2008!
Be that as it may, the situation in our country today is so surreal that most citizens are bamboozled into confusion, delusional support, outrage or overt complicity.
The vast array of outrages committed by our government in our name is ignored, deflected, demonized or just plain covered up so that we can stay addicted to Un-Reality TV as we focus on the latest Kardashian soap opera tragedy instead of why we have become like Germans living in Nazi Germany during the 1930’s.
True, we don’t have an obvious madman at the helm even though both Bush and
Obama showed they had serious personal problems dealing with the truth.
As the author of the following essay captures in his awkward eloquence (mimicking
Pogo): “We have met the enemy and he is us”…….or should I say US!?!
War On Syria: Terrorists R Us
Are we once again being manipulated to fight perpetual war against manufactured
enemies as Orwell predicted in 1984? Reading what Joe Contrarian has written
sure adds to the doubts many have, especially after hearing that:
1. McCain publicly bragged how a Russian plane could be shot down with a
missile several days before the event.
2. The US along with Israel and several other countries were conducting drills
close to the Sinai at the same time as the plane came down.
3. A near miss attack on a British tourist plane in August was covered up by
UK authorities to avoid panic among prospective visitors to Egypt.
The conflicting reports, rush to judgment and overt politicalization of a huge tragedy
by the various parties to the Syrian proxy war before a complete investigation can
be completed makes it almost impossible to know the TRUTH about this event.
Once again we as a nation and polity are thrust into the abyss of terminal vagueness
by dark forces who thrive on chaos to enact their tyrannical agenda. Hopefully someone
in my generation, or in the next one like Telsi Gabbard, will find the same courage as
Senator Gravel to lead us out of this morass into a world at peace.
With the “Barbarians inside the Gate” clamoring for more power and control, the time
for action is well past now. Organize instead of agonize! If the folks in Iceland can
put their banksters in jail and the kids in Missouri can rally to oust their school officials,
think what a sufficiently outraged public can do once we decide to stop these wars,
end the barbarism and restore freedom to our once Great Republic.
