New video of abortion industry confirms infants born alive, then killed

“So you know there are times when after the procedure is done that the heart is still beating.”

The words are from Ben Van Handel, the executive director of Novogenix Laboraties, which works with Planned Parenthood to take organs from the bodies of infants terminated through abortion and resell them.

The chilling confirmation that infants sometimes not only are delivered “intact” but alive came in the seventh video released by the Center for Medical Progress.

The organization created a fake company and sent undercover investigators into Planned Parenthood clinics to expose the harvesting and sale of infant body parts.

Previous videos have revealed a cold, calculating attitude on the part of several Planned Parenthood executives, including one who fretted about being “low-balled” for the products she would be able to provide, with her statement, “I want a Lamborghini,” a $200,000-plus exotic car.

The newest video, the third in the organization’s “Human Capital” series, features eyewitness accounts of the births of live babies, whose demise then comes at the hands of procurement technicians who are assigned to reap the body parts desired by customers.

The video includes the testimony of Holly O’Donnell, a former blood and tissue procurement technician for StemExpress, a biotech company that until last week was partnered with Planned Parenthood to purchase parts of aborted fetuses and resell them.

O’Donnell describes the harvesting organs from a nearly intact late-term fetus aborted at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Alameda clinic in San Jose, California.

“‘Want to see something kind of cool?'” O’Donnell recalls her supervisor asked her. “And she just taps the heart, and it starts beating. And I’m sitting here and I’m looking at this fetus, and its heart is beating, and I don’t know what to think.”

CMP notes that state and federal laws stipulate an infant born alive after an abortion must be treated the same as a normally delivered baby.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, noted Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell did the same thing. He was convicted of killing born-alive infants and is now in prison.

“Planned Parenthood knew what was going on behind the closed doors of the ‘House of Horrors’ at Kermit Gosnell’s clinic in Philadelphia yet they never reported him – because they were doing the same thing in their facilities,” she said.

Hawkins said Gosnell’s abortion facility “was closed down and he sits in prison today for the murder of babies born after failed abortions, which is exactly where Planned Parenthood needs to be.”

“There is no reason, ever, for babies to be cut up, dismembered, and torn apart, which is precisely what Planned Parenthood is doing to preborn children. And in some cases, just like in Kermit Gosnell’s clinic, they are killed after being born alive,” she said.

“There are no words to describe the horror of what is happening at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country. They are doing things just as bad, or worse, than what Gosnell did – and taxpayers are sending over half a [billion dollars] to Planned Parenthood every year.

Hawkins said that while Planned Parenthood can claim that it is harvesting the body parts of aborted babies for research that may help save lives someday, it is dismembering babies with a beating heart to do so.

“Is that worth it? Hell no. Not only is it morally objectionable, but it’s illegal,” she said. “Planned Parenthood abortionists and executives need to join Kermit Gosnell in his jail cell, and every single facility should not only be defunded but shut down.”

She reasoned that there are thousands of other federally funded health clinics that “offer the same care to women without ripping apart babies with a beating heart.”

“Congress must defund Planned Parenthood now and redirect our more than $500 million in taxpayer funds to these federally funded health clinics to serve women and children,” she said.

“I dare President Obama to watch today’s video by the Center for Medical Progress. Since he voted four times in the past to keep live-birth abortions legal, he should watch today’s video and make sure he is still OK with it.”

O’Donnell also says on the video her supervisor from StemExpress told her to take the brain of the infant whose heart still was beating.

“She gave me the scissors and told me that I had to cut down the middle of the face. I can’t even describe what that feels like,” she said.

The video follows a report released just 24 hours earlier that Theresa Deisher, a scientist who studies adult stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine, said she has reason to believe “babies in some of these cases were alive until their hearts were cut out.”

“If you read scientific publications, in which they use the fetal material for some indications, particularly, cardio-vascular, or nerve cell research, they discuss the necessity of having tissue in the digesting buffer solution within five minutes for optimal yields,” she told Breitbart. “So, within five minutes of death, you would have to have the heart removed, and flushed of all blood, cleaned of any extra tissue that might be there, and the heart put into a liquid with enzymes that would digest the connective tissue and release the muscle cells.”

Deisher, who earned a doctorate in molecular and cellular physiology from Stanford University, further explained: “Sometimes, they use an apparatus where they hook the heart up and they would flush fluid through it to keep it alive and beating. And you can’t have a dead heart that’s going to work in that kind of process.”

The scientist said that if the organs are to be kept usable for research, the baby’s heart must continue beating until just before harvest.

“Biomedical companies prefer gestational ages of greater than 20 weeks for heart muscle,” she explained to Breitbart. “This is from reading their publications; so, I have always suspected that the babies in some of these cases were alive until their hearts were cut out.”

Deisher founded Sound Choice Pharmaceutical Institute and is the CEO of AVM Biotechnology. She made history when she became the first person to patent stem cells from the adult heart.

Breitbart reported: “Deisher worked for two decades in the commercial biomedical field, she ultimately found the industry’s extensive experimentation with the remains of aborted babies incompatible with her pro-life values. She then began her own biotechnology companies that promote the use of adult stem cells for medical research.”

CMP’s Project Lead David Daleiden notes: “Today’s video contains heartrending admissions about the absolute barbarism of Planned Parenthood’s abortion practice and baby parts sales in which fetuses are sometimes delivered intact and alive. Planned Parenthood is a criminal organization from the top down and should be immediately stripped of taxpayer funding and prosecuted for their atrocities against humanity.”

The newest video also reveals Planned Parenthood officials explaining they can change the abortion procedures to get the best products for sale.

Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood, for example, said, “So I had eight cases yesterday and I knew exactly what we needed. And I kind of looked at the list and I said, alright. This 17 weeker has eight lams, and this one – so I knew which were the cases that were probably more likely to yield what we needed, and I made my decisions according to that.”

Another Planned Parenthood official, Melissa Farrell, said, “Yeah, and so if we alter our process, and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers. Then we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this. It’s all just a matter of line items.”

Daleiden explained: “Whenever you’re talking about fully intact fetuses in the context of fetal tissue procurement, those are situations where no feticide like digoxin or potassium chloride, no chemical like that can be used to kill the fetus before because that poisons the organs and the tissues. In that case it’s prima facie evidence of born alive infant cases.”

O’Donnell struggles to explain what her thoughts were during the procedures: “My God, what am I doing.”

And she wonders about that life, “knowing you’re the only person who is ever going to hold that baby. … This could be a firefighter … the next president. I wonder … would she like to color?”

“Life isn’t a mistake. Getting pregnant can be an accident, but it’s not a mistake,” she said.
