TRUMP Demolishes THE HUFFINGTON POST, Slams Historic Editorial Fiasco

SOTN Editor’s Note:
If ever there was a internet-based news platform that was responsible for polluting cyber-space with so much tawdry and reprehensible ‘journalism’ THE HUFFINGTON POST is it.

The right column at HuffPo is full of nothing but tawdry tabloid trash.

The center column has considerably more faux news than Fox News, which bangs up everything and anything that is just a tad right of the political center.

Their left column is replete with so many wrongheaded opinion pieces one wonders what planet those people live on. It must be noted, however, that there are some sober and sane columnists, from time to time, who do present some excellent commentary.

Nevertheless, by and large, THE HUFFINGTON POST represents everything that has gone terribly wrong with American journalism.  As Donald Trump so aptly put it, HuffPo is nothing but a ‘glorified blog’, if even that, as far as SOTN is concerned!

When the HuffPo editors decided to move all coverage of Trump’s presidential campaign to the their entertainment section, they hit an all-time low for naked biased journalism.  Their ‘news’ platform no longer qualifies as as source for responsible reporting, nor should it be considered anything but what it truly is — America’s new standard-bearer of yellow journalism and profoundly offensive blog content.

Trump: HuffPo a ‘Glorified Blog’

Surging GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed The Huffington Post as “a glorified blog” Friday after the liberal news website announced it would no longer include the billionaire real estate mogul in its political coverage.

“Instead, we will cover his campaign as part of our Entertainment section,” the news site snootily declared under a banner that blared: “YOU’RE FIRED! From Our Political Reporting.”

“Our reason is simple: Trump’s campaign is a sideshow. We won’t take the bait.”

In a statement, Trump hit back hard, noting his leading numbers in recent polls, including “the unimportant Huffington Post poll,” and his role in raising the issues of border security and immigration, “the terrible United States trade deals, strengthening our military, taking care of our great Vets and the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.”

“The only clown show in this scenario is the Huffington Post pretending to be a legitimate news source,” the statement said. “Mr. Trump is not focused on being covered by a glorified blog. He is focused on Making America Great Again.”

The statement added Trump “has never been a fan of Arianna Huffington or the money-losing Huffington Post.”

Rich Noyes, research director at the conservative Media Research Center, tells Fox News the “high and mighty” news site’s decision sidestepped voters altogether.

“It seems high and mighty of the Huffington Post to decide who is and who isn’t a real candidate when Donald Trump is leading in the Republican polls right now,” Noyes tells Fox News.

“They wouldn’t have taken kindly if the rest of the media had treated Arianna Huffington’s run for governor of California as a sideshow. I would say it’s up to the voters to decide who is a real candidate and who is not.”

Mother Jones’ David Corn also objected
, although his reason was “that to exile Trump to the realm of the Kardashians is to let the Republican party off the hook too easily.”

Corn said while Trump has turned the primary “into a stretch Hummer-sized clown car,” The Huffington Post is “wrong.” Trump is a “political phenomenon” whose rise says a lot about Republican voters, he said.

The reality show-maker, businessman and now politician is following in the footsteps of comedian and now-Democratic Minnesota Sen. Al Franken; movie star and ex-California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger; and actor-turned-President Ronald Reagan, Fox News points out.  And Poynter Institute’s James Warren uses those examples also to challenge The Huffington Post’s decision.”You might think Trump is a buffoon. But he may have, for the moment at least, touched some nerve of dissatisfaction, perhaps partial explanation of his decent showing in some early Republican polls,” Warren writes. “Something of the sort happened long ago with some guys who were actually professional actors and were similarly disparaged,.””They, too, could have been journalistically segregated long ago as not meeting some arbitrary test of seriousness and legitimacy. You do remember Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, don’t you?”Michael Reagan, son of the late president, told FoxNews.com, “You can’t really disagree with The Huffington Post — he is entertaining.”

“He has sucked all the air out of the room and if the other Republicans don’t want him to win, they ought to figure out how to put the air back into the room,” he said.

David Avella, chairman of the Republican recruiting arm GOPAC, told Fox News The Huffington Post, as a private company, does have the right to provide coverage as it deems fit.

“If Donald Trump doesn’t like how he is being covered by the Huffington Post, then he could buy it,” he said. “There are plenty of media outlets that will cover him in their political sections. In fact, in the last two weeks media coverage has not been a problem for Donald Trump.”
