… He Conveniently Ignores Republican Responsibility For Urban Decay

Giuliani has pointed out the obvious by identifying the woeful neglect of 30 straight years of Democratic mayors in Baltimore. His observation is just as relevant when evaluating the tragic performances of Democratic mayors throughout most of the cities across America. Virtually every major U.S city has been hijacked by self-serving and narrow-minded politicos. By and large their urban stewardship clearly illustrates that they only take care of their own (read: personal and political friends) and rarely take care of those constituencies who need it the most.
What is quite surprising is that even many of the Democratic minority mayors often go out of their way to neglect their own people. Once they sit in the seat of power, they somehow lose their loyalty to both the people and the causes that got them to their position of authority. Instead of using their mayoral influence to benefit the most needy and dispossessed, they spend their time enriching themselves and their cronies.
Detroit and Chicago, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., New Orleans and Miami, Newark and Cleveland, Las Vegas and San Diego have all produced truly terrible records of continuous Democratic administrations. Don’t believe us? Make a visit.
Baltimore, however, is now the site of the perfect storm. In moments of vulnerability like citywide riots, all the dirty laundry comes flying out of the closet. The USA is now getting a close look at all that has gone wrong over years of incompetent and corrupt leadership. Just like Washington, D.C, the closer a city is located to the locus of national political power the more corrupt they will become.
As for the Republican contribution to the slow-motion demise of America’s cities, that’s a no brainer for anyone who understands the very nature of their legislative process. Cities are left to take care of themselves regardless of the challenges or calamities they face. The GOP has always approached the nation’s metropolitan hubs as bastions of Democratic power and influence; therefore, they get nothing, nada, no help, financial or otherwise … just as the entire world witnessed during Hurricane Katrina in NOLA.

Giuliani: Decades of Liberal Democratic Rule Hasn’t Helped Baltimore

Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said three decades of liberal Democrats running Baltimore have done little to help the plight of minorities.
Appearing Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Giuliani said he was able to bring communities such as Washington Heights back to prosperity after a riot in 1992 and a blackout in 1999.
“That community went from being very high crime community to being a good community,” Giuliani said. “I would ask all those politicians you saw there talking about the terrible conditions, economic conditions, they have been in charge of Baltimore for the last 30 years. This is a Democratic city.”
Democrat Martin O’Malley was the governor for eight years and mayor of Baltimore eight years before than, Giuliani noted.
“If those people are suffering from economic depravation, then what the heck have they done?,” he asked. “What has (Rep.) Elijah Cummings done for his city? … What kind of economic development have they done?”
Democrats and left-leaning pundits have pointed to systemic racism and poverty for causing the boiling over of tensions in Baltimore and other cities as black men have died in police custody. The most recent was 25-year-old Freddie Gray in Baltimore, sparking protests and rioting.
Giuliani blamed the problems on “very left wing policies of dependency” and leaders who “don’t do anything about the schools, let the teachers union push you around so you can’t have vouchers, don’t support charter schools, don’t move people off welfare.”
