‘This wasn’t drafted by this individual’: Trump lawyer claims whistleblower complaint written ‘by a law firm
Washington Examiner
President Trump’s personal lawyer Jay Sekulow alleged that the whistleblower complaint filed by an intelligence community official was written by “a law firm.”
The whistleblower, who is believed to work for the CIA, filed the complaint and detailed Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which the president requested the foreign leader to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. The complaint, which was released on Thursday, and the rest of the details surrounding the phone call led to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announcing a formal impeachment investigation.
Sekulow appeared on Fox & Friends Friday morning to discuss the ongoing saga.
He began, “So, when you start with a witness saying, Steve and Brian, ‘I have no knowledge of the events I’m depicting here, and I’m basing this on conversations I had with colleagues of mine, and I think they are trustworthy.’ Well, do you know if they heard it correctly? Well, I don’t know because I don’t have firsthand knowledge. And do you think the whistleblower drafted that complaint? I mean realistically?”
“You think they had help? Did they have help?” Steve Doocy asked.
“Look at the phraseology, the endnotes, and the footnotes,” Sekulow responded. “This wasn’t drafted by this individual. This was written by a law firm. And you know what? The American people see it for what it is. No one has the — nobody has the appetite for this anymore. They want to keep doing it? Call for a vote. That’s my tell for [House Judiciary Chairman] Jerry Nadler and [House Intelligence Chairman] Adam Schiff. Call for a vote. Just go ahead and do it.”
