Is NFL vs. Trump A Huge Distraction From Impending WWIII?

In a different era, the questions raised by the protesting professional athletes regarding racial discrimination and police brutality would have been far more important than they are today with global tensions rising on the Korean Peninsula, in Syria, Ukraine and elsewhere.

There is a good chance that WWIII is imminent! The First Amendment issues raised by this controversy are important. To me, they pale into almost insignificance in the face of the dangers unfolding abroad.

Yes, it is essential that we improve race relations here at home. But the dramas unfolding around the world combined with a very fragile economic situation and a seemingly unending array of natural disasters requires the public to focus on the big picture of how to achieve peace and prosperity before catastrophe strikes.

The country appears ready to push back and boycott what they see as the unpatriotic behavior of super-rich and pampered young men which is good news in light of what is happening elsewhere. THE BOYCOTT BEGINS! The NFL will soon be history.

How many citizens are aware that US backed forces in Eastern Syria have apparently killed a high level Russian military officer in a clear escalation of tensions between the nuclear powers?

How many are following what is happening with the Kurds in Iraq who have voted to secede and form a separate country that Turkey, Syria and Iraq see as a major threat?

I believe the NFL/Trump brouhaha has been blown way out of proportion to its meaning in the great scheme of things. Considering that the teams stayed in the locker room for the national anthem until the government recruited the NFL in 2009 to promote patriotism, the politicalization of sports is partially responsible for this dilemma.

Calling for the Trump’s impeachment over this matter is grandstanding of the highest order when the fate of the nation is in such a precarious state because of these other matters.

The future of the United States is up for grabs. The wrecking ball aspects of Trump’s rise to the presidency continue to manifest as the scary roller coaster ride I predicted months ago. http://stonecoldtruth.com/its-a-roller-coaster-ride/

Hopefully, wiser heads will prevail soon in the sports world and in DC to get the country focused on the daunting issues that might readily trigger WWIII!
