Rudy Giuliani: Dead people generally vote for Democrats

WASHINGTON — Team Trump on Sunday pushed the notion that Election Day voting is rigged for a Hillary Clinton win.

Rudy Giuliani amped up Donald Trump’s comments from the night before that the Nov. 8 election would be “rigged,” saying Democrats are likely to cheat at the polls, especially in places like Philadelphia and Chicago.

“I’m sorry,” the former New York mayor told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Dead people generally vote for Democrats, rather than Republicans. … You want me to tell you that I think the election in Philadelphia and Chicago is going to be fair? I would have to be a moron to say that. I would have to dislearn everything I learned in 40 years of being a politician,” Giuliani told Jake Tapper.

Meanwhile, Trump running mate Mike Pence went on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and tried to allay fears of potentially dangerous sour grapes, saying, “We will absolutely accept the result of the election,” later adding that the GOP ticket will “accept the will of the American people. You bet.”

But Trump again fanned the flames with a fresh tweet saying that “the election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary — but also at many polling places — SAD.”

Pence’s message of a peaceful transition of power echoed Democrat Al Gore, who accepted his bitter loss in 2000 as the Supreme Court ended the Florida recount.

“I accept the finality of this outcome,” Gore said in his December 2000 concession speech to George W. Bush, in which he also pledged to “honor the new president-elect and do everything possible to help him bring Americans together.”

Shortly after Trump pledged Sept. 26 at the first debate that he’d “absolutely” accept the outcome of the election, he backtracked, saying: “We’re going to have to see.”

An unshackled Trump has since taken to conspiracy theories that political elite and the mainstream media are colluding with Clinton to steal the election, as he’s down in the polls after a rocky week in which nine women stepped forward to accuse the candidate of sexual misconduct after he bragged about groping women on a 2005 hot mic.

“It looks to me like a rigged election,” Trump said in Portsmouth, NH, Saturday. “The election is being rigged by corrupt media pushing completely false allegations and outright lies in an effort to elect her president.”

Studies suggest there are few cases of voter fraud and incidents have not affected the outcome of elections.

News21, a reporting project affiliated with Arizona State University, in 2012 found 2,068 cases of election fraud nationwide since 2000 out of 146 million registered voters during that time. The analysis found just 10 cases involved voter impersonation — such as what Giuliani suggested.

Newt Gingrich said Sunday that monitoring should take place at polling sites to protect against cheating.

“They should. You look at Philadelphia, you look at St. Louis, you look at Chicago, I mean, again I’m old enough, I remember when Richard Nixon had the election stolen in 1960 and no serious historian doubts that Illinois and Texas were stolen,” Gingrich told ABC’s “This Week.”

“So to suggest that we have — that you don’t have theft in Philadelphia is to deny reality.”
