‘Call It the Surge’: Vowing Nationwide Crackdown, Trump Touts Tougher and More Militarized US Police
Ed.’s note: Alright, what is going on here? As the US military is being jettisoned from the Middle East, except for their oil interests in Syria, with many returning to the US presumably, we see a simultaneous buildup of a militarized police. With an increase of $600 million in used military equipment planned to be turned over to police departments, how many more people are going to be shot by an increasingly aggressive police?
In addition to this, AG William Barr announced what has been described as an “Orwellian pre-crime program.” Bringing the “war on terrorism” back to America. Consider for a moment the level of violence in America. If you take the number of police shootings ending in death in 2018 at 1,165 in addition to the 2,962 (590 dead) shot (non-police shootings) just in Chicago, that comes to 4,127 people shot (1,755 deaths) on American streets. What kind of a society tolerates that kind of carnage? Those are 2003 Baghdad “war” statistics.

‘Call It the Surge’: Vowing Nationwide Crackdown, Trump Touts Tougher and More Militarized US Police
October 28, 2019 | by Jake Johnson, staff write
“They didn’t want to make you look so tough,” the president told a room full of cops on Monday. “They didn’t want to make you look like you’re a threat.”
President Donald Trump on Monday said the Justice Department is preparing to launch a sweeping crackdown on crime that he named “the surge,” a term commonly associated with the George W. Bush administration’s decision to send tens of thousands of additional troops into Iraq in 2007.
“In coming weeks, Attorney General Barr will announce a new crackdown on violent crime—which I think is so important—targeting gangs and drug traffickers in high crime cities and dangerous rural areas,” Trump said during the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Chicago. “Let’s call it the surge.”
The president did not provide any details on the plan but said it is going to be “very dramatic.”
“And you’re going to see tremendous results very quickly,” Trump added.
As if to emphasize his view of America’s cities as war zones, Trump went on to tout his administration’s success in putting military equipment into the hands of U.S. police officers and claimed “Afghanistan is a safe place” compared to Chicago.
“To help keep you safe, I’ve made $600 million-worth of surplus military equipment available to local law enforcement,” Trump told the audience of police chiefs. “If you remember, the previous administration didn’t want to do that… They didn’t want to make you look so tough. They didn’t want to make you look like you’re a threat.”
Watch Trump’s remarks:
Trump’s visit to Chicago, the first of his presidency, was met with massive protests led by Indivisible Chicago and other progressive advocacy groups. Striking Chicago public school teachers also cleared their Monday afternoon schedule to take part in demonstrations against the president.

With Little Fanfare, William Barr Formally Announces Orwellian Pre-Crime Program
A recent memorandum authored by Attorney General William Barr announced a new “pre-crime” program inspired by “War on Terror” tactics and is set to be implemented next year.
by Whitney Webb | October 25, 2019
Last Wednesday, U.S. Attorney General William Barr issued a memorandum to all U.S. attorneys, law enforcement agencies and top ranking Justice Department officials announcing the imminent implementation of a new “national disruption and early engagement program” aimed at detecting potential mass shooters before they commit any crime.
Per the memorandum, Barr has “directed the Department [of Justice] and the FBI to lead an effort to refine our ability to identify, assess and engage potential mass shooters before they strike.” The Attorney General further described the coming initiative, slated to be implemented early next year, as “an efficient, effective and programmatic strategy to disrupt individuals who are mobilizing towards violence, by all lawful means.” More specific information about the program is set to follow the recent memorandum, according to Barr, though it is unclear if that forthcoming document will be made public.
Barr also requested that those who received the memorandum send their “best and brightest” to a training conference at FBI headquarters this coming December where the DOJ, FBI and “private sector partners” will prepare for the full implementation of the new policy and will also be able to provide “new ideas” for inclusion in the program.
Perhaps the most jarring aspect of the memorandum is Barr’s frank admission that many of the “early engagement” tactics that the new program would utilize were “born of the posture we adopted with respect to terrorist threats.” In other words, the foundation for many of the policies utilized following the post-9/11 “war on terror” are also the foundation for the “early engagement” tactics that Barr seeks to use to identify potential criminals as part of this new policy. Though those “war on terror” policies have largely targeted individuals abroad, Barr’s memorandum makes it clear that some of those same controversial tactics will soon be used domestically.
Barr’s memorandum also alludes to current practices by the FBI and DOJ that will shape the new plan. Though more specifics of the new policy will be provided in the forthcoming notice, Barr notes that “newly developed tactics” used by the Joint Terrorist Task Forces “include the use of clinical psychologists, threat assessment professionals, intervention teams and community groups” to detect risk and suggests that the new “early engagement program” will work along similar lines. Barr also alludes to this “community” approach in a separate instance, when he writes that “when the public ‘says something’ to alert us to a potential threat, we must do something.”
However, the memorandum differentiates suspected terrorists from the individuals this new program is set to pursue. Barr states that, unlike many historical terrorism cases, “many of today’s public safety threats appear abruptly and with sometimes only ambiguous indications of intent” and that many of these individuals “exhibit symptoms of mental illness and/or have substance abuse problems.”
Thus, the goal of the program is ostensibly to circumvent these issues by finding new and likely controversial ways to determine intent. As will be shown later in this report, Barr’s recent actions suggest that the way this will be accomplished is through increased mass surveillance of everyday Americans and the use of algorithms to analyze that bulk data for vaguely defined symptoms of “mental illness.”
Barr also suggested the likely courses of action that would follow the identification of a given individual as a “potential mass shooter.” The Attorney General notes that in past cases individuals deemed a violent or terroristic threat before they commit a crime are subject to “detention, court-ordered mental health treatment, substance abuse counseling, electronic monitoring”, among other measures. Ostensibly, the new program would then apply these same practices to individuals in the U.S. that federal authorities believe are “mobilizing towards violence,” as Barr put it.
Bill Barr’s been busy
The memorandum, despite heralding a new era of Orwellian surveillance and “pre-crime” on a national level, has been sparsely covered by the mainstream media. One of the few reports that did cover the new Justice Department policy, published Wednesday by the Huffington Post, framed the new Barr-led initiative as largely positive and asserted that the “anti-terror tactics” to which Barr alluded could “help thwart mass shooters.” No mention was made in the piece of the threat such a program is likely to pose to civil liberties.
Furthermore, no mention was made of Barr’s clear push over the past few months to lay the groundwork for this recently announced program. Indeed, since becoming Attorney General under President Trump, Barr has spearheaded numerous efforts to this end, including pushing for a government backdoor into consumer apps or devices that utilize encryption and for a dramatic increase of long-standing yet controversial warrantless electronic surveillance programs.

What company or companies is Barr’s DoJ working with to develop this “Orwellian pre-crime program?” It’s a legitimate question and one that everyone needs to be asking serious questions about.
What is Peter Thiel’s firm Palantir building for Americans?
What is a “palantir?” It is a crystal-ball that functions sort of like a communications device, allowing its users, presumably, to also see future actions. Palantir’s systems tracks everyone from potential terrorist suspects as the article above points out, to corporate fraudsters like Bernie Madoff who was imprisoned with the help of Palantir, child traffickers and what Barr describes as “subversives” (“terrorists”). But it is all done using predictive programming.
Peter Thiel along with Alex Karp founded Palantir (big data company) and contracts with the US government probably in no bid contracts. A private corporation contracting with the US government including possibly AG Barr’s DoJ data mining for every possible scrap of data it possibly can on YOU.
Peter Thiel has access to an astonishing amount of private equity capital.
The “key” to selling Palantir is to market it as a tool to prevent “terrorism” including potential future events like another 9/11. But we already have an enormous data base of open source intelligence to demonstrate the events of 9/11 were prepared well in advance by an extremely sophisticated private intelligence network involving state “actors.” Peter Thiel (board member of Facebook) does not want the US government to have access to encrypted communications. Another example of private tech companies taking over intelligence and all data. Palantir continues to rack up contracts with US government agencies replacing government responsibilities.
If these tech companies like Thiel and Alex Karp’s Palantir do not want to allow the government access to encrypted communications, why does the FBI have an ongoing investigation into Thiel’s investments? That control over encryption Thiel wants complete access to also includes financial transactions. Thiel’s Palantir wants complete control over all data (monopoly) to stop whistle blowers and investigative journalism looking into their criminality. What we see happening here is a weaponized government being run by private tech companies.
Palantir’s activities like all these big tech companies have contacts inside not only the US government, but the UK government as well who are dishing these contracts out to Palantir with little media attention and no public scrutiny. All of Palantir’s wealth now worth over $1 billion is coming from government contracts. There are Pentagon and ICE insiders paving the way for these contracts and they are going to come under increasing public attention. To make sure that Palantir has a lucrative contracting future with the US government and the Pentagon, it has hired contracting specialists and probably pays them a pretty penny too.
What should also be of concern to Americans is that Palantir works with Israel-based tech firms and is behind the “Iran nuclear deal.” Palantir in Israel works in software and research development. Palantir is considered one of the “unicorn” companies. Jeff Bezos’ (CIA billionaire front) Amazon makes millions off providing web servers and database storage for Palantir. Palantir aids the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in identifying and deporting migrants and is more than likely also used to monitor and spy on Palestinians. Palantir’s reach is enormous even going into the UN to run UN programs building out further big data. Considering Palantir is a US intelligence agency-connected tech corporation including the CIA, the data reach they are building is going to be enormous as data becomes the new commodity.
The new Humanitarian: New UN deal with data mining firm Palantir raises protection concerns
We have already looked at in previous posts how the Jewish-American oligarch Paul Singer through his investment strategies is behind moving tech jobs to Israel including Palantir. Palantir is leading the move into big data (data-mining) and artificial intelligence (A.I.) systems. With research facilities in Israel it means whatever data is mined out of the US it is going to Israel.
