Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo took to his Facebook page to vent about gun control following the massacre at Santa Fe High School in Texas that claimed the lives of eight students and two teachers.<\/p>\n
In that post, he targeted politicians for doing nothing to solve what many believe is a growing issue.<\/p>\n
What did he say?<\/h3>\n
Acevedo told his friends he hit \u201crock bottom\u201d following Friday\u2019s tragedy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am not interested in your views as it pertains to [gun control]. Please do not post anything about guns aren\u2019t the problem and there\u2019s little we can do. My feelings won\u2019t be hurt if you de-friend me and I hope yours won\u2019t be if you decide to post about your views and I de-friend you,\u201d Acevedo wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe hatred being spewed in our country and the new norms we, so-called people of faith are accepting, is as much to blame for so much of the violence in our once pragmatic Nation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Acevedo, a devout Christian, went on to write that prayers and inaction should not be the response to every mass shooting.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis isn\u2019t a time for prayers, and study and Inaction, it\u2019s a time for prayers, action and the asking of God\u2019s forgiveness for our inaction (especially the elected officials that ran to the cameras today, acted in a solemn manner, called for prayers, and will once again do absolutely nothing),\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have never accepted the status-quo in anything I do and I\u2019ve never accepted defeat. And I won\u2019t do it now. I will continue to speak up and will stand up for what my heart and my God commands me to do, and I assure you he hasn\u2019t instructed me to believe that gun-rights are bestowed by him,\u201d the police chief explained.<\/p>\n
