{"id":98390,"date":"2018-04-19T21:57:39","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T01:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=98390"},"modified":"2018-04-19T21:58:52","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T01:58:52","slug":"doj-inspector-general-refers-mccabe-for-criminal-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=98390","title":{"rendered":"DOJ Inspector General Refers McCabe For Criminal Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Following yesterday&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-04-18\/criminal-referral-issued-comey-clinton-lynch-and-mccabe-rosenstein-recusal-demanded\">criminal referral<\/a>\u00a0issued to former\u00a0FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, his ex-boss James Comey and several other individuals, alleging\u00a0malfeasance during\u00a0the 2016 US election, the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0reports that\u00a0<strong>McCabe was referred to the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office by the Department of Justice&#8217;s internal watchdog.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mccabeface.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-98391\" src=\"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mccabeface.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mccabeface.jpg 500w, https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mccabeface-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While\u00a0<em>CNN\u00a0<\/em>suggests that the criminal referral was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/WPJGt\">recently issued<\/a>, citing a\u00a0&#8220;source familiar with the matter&#8221; &#8211; the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>\u00a0says it occurred &#8220;some time ago.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The referral to the D.C. U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office occurred some time ago,\u00a0<strong>after the inspector general concluded McCabe had lied to investigators or his own boss<\/strong>, then-FBI Director James B. Comey,\u00a0<strong>on four occasions, three of them under oath<\/strong>. &#8211;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/inspector-general-referred-findings-on-mccabe-to-us-attorney-for-consideration-of-criminal-charges\/2018\/04\/19\/a200cabc-43f3-11e8-8569-26fda6b404c7_story.html\">WaPo<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is unknown how the D.C. U.S. Attorney&#8217;s office has responded to the referral &#8211; including whether prosecutors have launched a separate investigation, as a criminal referral does not obligate officials to take action.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ, D.C. U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office and a spokeswoman for McCabe declined to comment Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-04-13\/trump-ecstatic-after-oig-releases-report-which-led-mccabe-firing\">released a report last week<\/a>,\u00a0accusing former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe of\u00a0repeatedly misleading investigators.<\/p>\n<p>McCabe was fired on March 16\u00a0after the OIG found that he &#8220;<strong>had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor &#8211; including under oath &#8211; on multiple occasions.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Specifically,\u00a0McCabe was fired when it was uncovered that he\u00a0<strong>authorized\u00a0an F.B.I. spokesman and attorney to tell Devlin Barrett of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/u1ROD\">Wall St. Journal<\/a>, just days before the 2016 election, that the FBI had\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0put the brakes on a separate investigation into the Clinton Foundation &#8211; at a time in which McCabe was coming under fire for his wife taking a $467,500 campaign contribution from Clinton\u00a0<s>proxy<\/s>\u00a0pal, Terry McAuliffe.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<i>WSJ<\/i>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/u1ROD\">article in question<\/a>\u00a0reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>New details show that senior law-enforcement officials repeatedly voiced skepticism of the strength of the evidence in a bureau investigation of the Clinton Foundation, sought to condense what was at times a sprawling cross-country effort, and, according to some people familiar with the matter, told agents to limit their pursuit of the case<\/strong>. The McCabe case illustrates what an organization committed to the truth looks like<\/strong>,\u201d Comey said. \u201c<strong>I ordered that investigation.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comey then appeared to try and frame McCabe as a &#8220;good person&#8221; despite all the lying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood people lie. I think I\u2019m a good person, where I have lied,\u201d Comey said. \u201c<strong>I still believe Andrew McCabe is a good person but the inspector general found he lied,<\/strong>\u201d noting that there are &#8220;severe consequences&#8221; within the DOJ for doing so.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-width-video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"fitvid965367\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jyCnIdYZMz8?start=243\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In response, McCabe&#8217;s attorney, Michael R. Bromwich\u00a0(flush with cash from the disgraced Deputy Director&#8217;s half-million dollar legal defense\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-04-02\/mccabe-gofundme-shut-down-after-540000-donations\">GoFundMe\u00a0<\/a>campaign), fired back &#8211;\u00a0<strong>claiming that Comey was well aware of the leaks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;<\/strong>In his comments this week about the McCabe matter, former FBI Director James Comey has relied on the Inspector Genera&#8217;s (OIG) conclusions in their report on Mr. McCabe.
