Director Says Upcoming Inspector General Report Is &#8220;Pure TNT&#8221;<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker said today that a\u00a0highly anticipated report from the DOJ\u2019s Inspector General Michael Horowitz will contain \u201c<strong>some pure TNT.<\/strong>\u201d Horowitz has been investigating the conduct of the FBI\u2019s top brass surrounding the 2016 election for over a year. He also\u00a0uncovered over\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-01-25\/missing-fbi-text-message-have-been-located\">50,000 text messages<\/a>\u00a0between two anti-Trump \/ pro-Clinton FBI employees directly involved in the exoneration of Clinton and the counterintelligence operation launched against the Trump campaign.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Swecker: \u201c<strong>The behavior if it\u2019s manifested in the action with your thumb on the scale of a particular investigation, one way or the other, that\u2019s borderline criminal behavior \u2014 manipulating an investigation.<\/strong>\u00a0I think this IG report is going to be particularly impactful, more so than any of these useless congressional investigations.\u00a0<strong>I think you\u2019re going to see some pure TNT come out in this IG report.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ex-FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker puts Comey &amp; McCabe on notice: &#39;Some pure TNT&#39; will come out in the Inspector General report. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QdS3WkiTJ7\">pic.twitter.com\/QdS3WkiTJ7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Josh Caplan (@joshdcaplan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/joshdcaplan\/status\/974697240160858112?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 16, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Inspector General\u2019s report is thought to include evidence of outgoing Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe ordering agents to alter\u00a0\u201c302\u201d forms \u2013 the paperwork an agent files after interviewing someone.<\/p>\n<p>Horowitz is also reportedly homing in on McCabe\u2019s handling of the Anthony Weiner laptop after reports emerged that he wanted to avoid taking action on the FBI\u2019s findings until after the 2016 election.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz,\u00a0<strong>has been asking witnesses why FBI leadership seemed unwilling to move forward on the examination of emails found on the laptop of former congressman Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)until late October \u2014 about three weeks after first being alerted to the issue<\/strong>, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.<span id=\"more-2925400\"><\/span>\u00a0<strong>A key question of the internal investigation is whether McCabe or anyone else at the FBI wanted to avoid taking action on the laptop findings until after the Nov. 8 election<\/strong>, these people said. It is unclear whether the inspector general has reached any conclusions on that point. \u2013<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/QfQ2M\"><em>WaPo<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In January, Fox\u2019s\u00a0Sean Hannity sat down with journalist Sara Carter \u2013 who shed light on the McCabe situation, saying that FBI Director Christopher Wray was \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-01-30\/fbi-director-wray-shocked-his-core-fisa-memo-mccabe-removed-next-day-more-heads\">shocked to his core<\/a>\u201d after reading the GOP-authored \u201cFISA\u201d memo describing FBI malfeasance surrounding the 2016 U.S. election:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Carter: What we know tonight is that\u00a0<strong>FBI Director Christopher Wray went Sunday and reviewed the four-page FISA memo. The very next day, Andrew McCabe was asked to resign.<\/strong>\u00a0Remember Sean, he was planning on resigning in March \u2013 that already came out in December. This time they asked him to go right away. You\u2019re not coming into the office. I\u2019ve heard rep[orts he didn\u2019t even come in for the morning meeting \u2013 that he didn\u2019t show up.<\/p>\n<p>Hannity:\u00a0<strong>A source of mine told me tonight that when Wray read this, it shocked him to his core.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sara Carter: Shocked him to his core, and not only that, the Inspector General\u2019s report \u2013 I have been told tonight by a number of sources,\u00a0<strong>there\u2019s indicators right now that McCabe may have asked FBI agents to actually change their 302\u2019s \u2013 those are their interviews with witnesses.<\/strong>\u00a0So basically every time an FBI agent interviews a witness, they have to go back and file a report.<\/p>\n<p>Hannity:\u00a0<strong>Changes? So that would be obstruction of justice?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Carter:\u00a0<strong>Exactly<\/strong>. This is something the Inspector General is investigating. If this is true and not alleged, McCabe will be fired.\u00a0<strong>I heard they are considering firing him within the next few days if this turns out to be true<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u8M52TPMxsA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, several Republican Senators are asking the Department of Justice (DOJ) to order a special counsel to probe the FBI\u2019s conduct during its investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election \u2013 including the use of the \u201cSteele dossier\u201d in seeking a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant against former Trump Campaign advisor Carter Page.\u00a0The letter marks the second formal request by the Senate Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/download_5.jpg?itok=mmpr3s1E\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/download_5.jpg?itok=mmpr3s1E\" data-link-option=\"0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/download_5.jpg\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/inline_image_desktop\/public\/inline-images\/download_5.jpg?itok=mmpr3s1E 1x\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"271\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"0c9ec39c-724d-4cb1-bbb5-4fbda4b585ca\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The request comes amid controversy over Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe\u2019s pension \u2013 which is in jeopardy after the Department of Justice\u2019s internal watchdog found enough evidence of malfeasance to recommend firing McCabe immediately.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also notes that Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who they have the \u201cutmost confidence\u201d in,\u00a0\u201c<strong>does not have the tools that a prosecutor would to gather all the facts, such as the ability to obtain testimony from essential witnesses who are not current DOJ employees<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senators Chuck Grassley\u00a0Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Thom Tillis (N.C.) and John Cornyn (Texas), signed a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions as well as Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to name a special counsel who can \u201cgather all the facts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that a special counsel is needed to work with the Inspector General to independently gather the facts and make prosecutorial decisions, if any are merited. And\u00a0<strong>shortly after the election, Ohr was in contact with Glenn Simpson, the founder of Fusion GPS<\/strong>, the opposition research firm that hired Steele to investigate Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Ohr\u2019s wife, a Russia expert named Nellie Ohr, also happened to be working as a contractor for Fusion GPS for its Trump investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Judiciary Republicans want to know whether the FBI and DOJ were aware of that relationship.<\/p>\n<p>The committee letter lists all of Ohr\u2019s FBI interviews, which were summarized on what\u2019s known as a FD-302 document. The first interview with Ohr was conducted on November, 22, 2016. The most recent occurred on May 15, 2017. \u2013<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/03\/15\/senate-panel-calls-for-special-counsel-to-investigate-doj-handling-of-dossier\/\"><em>Daily Caller<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The DOJ\u2019s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) announced in January that it was opening a probe of the FBI\u2019s handling of the Clinton email investigation. Meanwhile, Attorney General Jeff Sessions asked the OIG to explore whether FBI officials abused their authority when they used an unverified and salacious dossier from Fusion GPS to obtain a FISA warrant on Carter Page.<\/p>\n<p>That said, Sessions has resisted repeated calls for a second Special Counsel.<\/p>\n<p>Graham and Grassley also asked the OIG to look into the FBI\u2019s conduct while handling the Russia probe, writing in a February letter:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe respectfully request that you conduct a comprehensive review of potential improper political influence, misconduct, or mismanagement in the conduct of the counterintelligence and criminal investigations related to Russia and individuals associated with (1) the Trump campaign, (2) the Presidential transition, or (3) the administration prior to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Senators also noted in their Thursday letter that if the DOJ declines to appoint a second special counsel, they want \u201c<strong>a detailed reply explaining why not.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>___<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-03-16\/ex-fbi-asst-director-says-upcoming-inspector-general-report-pure-tnt\">http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-03-16\/ex-fbi-asst-director-says-upcoming-inspector-general-report-pure-tnt<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ex-FBI Asst.
