He is expected Monday to officially request the committee release Democratic members\u2019 own 10-page memo, with the promise to send it to the Justice Department for redactions.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s tweet came shortly before Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said on &#8220;Fox &amp; Friends&#8221; that almost &#8220;100 leaks&#8221; have seemingly come from Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s tweet also reflected frustration with a host of figures, including Schiff&#8217;s Senate counterpart \u2013 Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., who sits as ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, which conducted its own Russia probe. DOJ &amp; FBI must keep doing their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; James Comey (@Comey) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Comey\/status\/959498570532577285?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Clapper called the move a \u201cblatant political act\u201d on CNN\u2019s \u201cNew Day,\u201d and Brennan said Nunes \u201cabused\u201d his office by making the memo public.<\/p>\n<p>Former CIA Director John Brennan slammed the GOP staff on HPSCI for releasing the memo. \u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cI think it, it really underscores just how partisan Mr. Nunes has been,\u201d Brennan said on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d Sunday. \u201cHe has abused his office of the chairmanship of HPSCI. And I don\u2019t say that lightly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The memo showed what Republicans describe as government surveillance abuse under the Obama administration. It included purported testimony from former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe that the FBI and the Justice Department would not have sought surveillance warrants to spy on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page without the dossier.<\/p>\n<p>The memo stated that information on the dossier also was \u201comitted\u201d when seeking a FISA warrant for Page. The dossier was written by ex-British spy Christopher Steele, who was hired by research firm Fusion GPS. The Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid for the opposition research through law firm Perkins Coie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither the initial application in Oct. 2016, nor any of the renewals, disclose or reference the role of the DNC, Clinton campaign, or any party\/ campaign in funding Steele\u2019s efforts, even though the political origins of the Steele dossier were then known to senior DOJ and FBI officials,\u201d the memo read.<\/p>\n<p>The memo stated that on Oct. 21, 2016, the Justice Department and the FBI \u201csought and received\u201d a FISA probable cause order authorizing \u201celectronic surveillance\u201d on Page.<\/p>\n<p>According to the memo, the FBI and DOJ obtained \u201cone initial FISA warrant\u201d targeting Page, and three FISA renewals from the FISA court. The statute required that every 90 days, a FISA order on an American citizen \u201cmust be renewed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The memo states that Comey signed three FISA applications for Page and McCabe signed one.
