In the latest of a series of undercover operations targeting the mainstream media\u00a0and now Social Media<\/em>, James O’Keefe of Project Veritas has just dropped a\u00a0new undercover video<\/strong>\u00a0which reveals\u00a0Twitter<\/strong>\u00a0“shadow banning” and creating algorithms that censor certain ideas.<\/p>\n The first clip features a former Twitter software engineer who explains how\/why Twitter “shadow bans” certain users:<\/p>\n Abhinav Vadrevu<\/strong><\/u>:\u00a0\u00a0“One strategy is to shadow ban so you have ultimate control. The idea of a shadow ban is that you ban someone but they don’t know they’ve been banned, because they keep posting but no one sees their content.”<\/strong><\/p>\n “So they just think that no one is engaging with their content, when in reality, no one is seeing it. I don’t know if Twitter does this anymore.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Meanwhile, Olinda Hassan, a Policy Manager for Twitter\u2019s Trust and Safety team explains on December 15th, 2017 at a Twitter holiday party that the development of a system of \u201cdown ranking\u201d \u201cshitty people\u201d is in the works:<\/p>\n \u201cYeah. That\u2019s something we\u2019re working on. It\u2019s something we\u2019re working on.\u00a0We\u2019re trying to get the shitty people to not show up. It\u2019s a product thing we\u2019re working on right now.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n Although Twitter presents itself as politically neutral, it\u2019s culture behind closed doors is one of blatant censorship and systematic bias.
