{"id":92339,"date":"2018-01-07T18:40:38","date_gmt":"2018-01-07T22:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=92339"},"modified":"2018-01-07T18:44:50","modified_gmt":"2018-01-07T22:44:50","slug":"92339","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=92339","title":{"rendered":"Fusion GPS Banking Documentation Presented To Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Fusion GPS Bank Records Handed Over; May Shed Light On Payments From Russian Embezzler<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>The bank for opposition research firm Fusion GPS\u00a0handed over financial\u00a0records on Friday, after a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2018-01-05\/judge-rules-fusion-gps-must-turn-over-bank-records\"><strong>Federal judge struck down<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0the firm&#8217;s attempt to conceal the records from the House Intelligence Committee the previous day.<\/p>\n<p>At issue are 70 financial transactions from 2016, however Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) demanded\u00a0<strong>&#8220;complete&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>records going all the way back to Aug. 2015 Fusion filed for an injunction &#8211;\u00a0claiming Nunes issued the subpoena illegally, it was overly broad, and it was a violation of the 1st amendment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/nunes-654x362-ee0fbc7_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/nunes-654x362-ee0fbc7_0.jpg\" alt=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/nunes-654x362-ee0fbc7_0.jpg\" width=\"628\" height=\"348\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"a9702c9f-9327-4f7c-b4ba-7f547fac06cb\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The request also covers a period in which Fusion was paid\u00a0<strong>$523,651<\/strong>\u00a0by a law firm for a Russian businessman whose company, Prevezon Holdings, Ltd. settled with the U.S. Justice department for $5.9 million in a money laundering an embezzlement scheme involving high level Russian officials. The Russian&#8217;s attorney\u00a0was none other than\u00a0<strong>Natalia Veselnitskaya of Trump Tower meeting fame<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Federal District Court Judge Richard Leon, a George W. Bush appointee, wrote a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/368439696\/Fusion-GPS-vs-House-Intelligence-Committee-Bank-Records#fullscreen&amp;from_embed\">scorching denial<\/a>\u00a0to Fusion&#8217;s request &#8211;\u00a0concluding that Nunes legally issued the subpoena, it wasn&#8217;t overly broad, and that the transactions are\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0covered by the first amendment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/credit-minority-report-blog_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/credit-minority-report-blog_0.jpg\" alt=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/credit-minority-report-blog_0.jpg\" width=\"624\" height=\"325\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"97e53670-6203-4e44-92f4-3b31aa258ef4\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Unfortunately for the plaintiff, I cannot agree,&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0Judge Leon wrote on the basis that Fusion&#8217;s commercial relationship with its clients does not provide Fusion with &#8220;some special First Amendment protection from subpoenas,&#8221;\u00a0<strong>since it would allow &#8220;any entity that provides goods and services to a customer who engages in political activity to resist a subpoena on the ground that its client engages in political speech.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While we don&#8217;t know what the 70 financial transactions cover, Nunes&#8217; Subpoena was broad, demanding\u00a0<strong>complete records\u00a0<\/strong>going back to August, 2015&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/429997_5_.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/429997_5_.png\" alt=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/429997_5_.png\" width=\"619\" height=\"321\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"ba0495ba-d0e8-481f-86e7-b049245336a8\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In late November,\u00a0<em>The Daily Caller<\/em>&#8216;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/ChuckRossDC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chuck Ross<\/a>\u00a0reported that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/11\/21\/unsealed-fusion-gps-bank-records-show-russia-related-payments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">heavily redacted Fusion GPS bank records<\/a>\u00a0unsealed Tuesday reveal DNC law firm\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ibankcoin.com\/zeropointnow\/files\/2017\/11\/rec1.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Perkins Coie<\/a>\u00a0paid Fusion a total of\u00a0<strong>$1,024,408<\/strong>\u00a0in 2016 for opposition research on then-candidate Donald Trump &#8211; including the 34-page dossier.<\/p>\n<p>Ross\u00a0also\u00a0reported\u00a0that law firm\u00a0Baker Hostelter\u00a0paid Fusion<strong>\u00a0$523,651<\/strong>\u00a0between March and October 2016 on behalf of a company owned by\u00a0<strong>Russian businessman and money launderer Denis Katsyv\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2017\/07\/bill-browders-testimony-to-the-senate-judiciary-committee\/534864\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to research Bill Browder<\/a>, a London banker who helped push through the Magnitsky Act &#8211; named after deceased Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/rec2%20%281%29_0.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/rec2%20%281%29_0.png\" alt=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/rec2%20%281%29_0.png\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"9520647a-07f8-4e2c-a50c-e61b1abb9a7d\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Katsyv was busted for a\u00a0high level embezzlement and money laundering scheme, sanctioned by Russian Officials, in which large sums of money were stolen from the Russian government\u00a0and invested in New York real estate. Some of the missing funds were\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reportingproject.net\/proxy\/en\/following-the-magnitsky-money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">traced to Katsyv<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.reportingproject.net\/proxy\/en\/following-the-magnitsky-money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8216;s firm<\/a>, Prevezon Holdings Ltd., which settled with the Justice Department in 2017 &#8211; paying\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2017-05-13\/u-s-reaches-5-9-million-deal-in-russian-fraud-laundering-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$5.9 million<\/a>\u00a0in fines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And again, what does Nunes&#8217; Subpoena cover? Banking records from the period in which Katsyv utilized Fusion GPS services.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Enter Natalia<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Katsyv&#8217;s attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya &#8211; a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ibankcoin.com\/zeropointnow\/files\/2017\/11\/mccainfan.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John McCain fan<\/a>\u00a0who hates Trump and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/07\/12\/exclusive-radical-dem-worked-for-russian-lawyer-who-met-with-trump-jr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uses Democrat lobbyists<\/a>, was initially\u00a0<strong>denied entry into the United States<\/strong>,\u00a0only to be allowed in under &#8220;extraordinary circumstances&#8221; by Obama&#8217;s Homeland Security Department and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/342118-homeland-security-confirms-special-entry-for-russian-lawyer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">approved by former AG Loretta Lynch<\/a>\u00a0so she could represent\u00a0<strong>Fusion GPS client\u00a0<\/strong>Denis Katsyv&#8217;s company, Prevezon Holdings &#8211;\u00a0<strong>and attend the meeting at Trump Tower\u00a0with Donald Trump Jr. &#8211; arranged by Fusion GPS associate Rob Goldstone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Let&#8217;s Review:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Russian businessman Denis Katsyv was a key figure in an embezzlement and money laundering scheme involving New York real estate, uncovered by Russian lawyer and accountant Sergei Magnitsky. Magnitsky reportedly died in\u00a0Moscow&#8217;s Butyrka prison after a year of inhumane treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Katsyv settled with the U.S. Justice department in 2017, paying a paltry $5.9 million in 2017 to settle the case &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-usa-crime-prevezon\/u-s-settles-russian-money-laundering-case-idUSKBN18904I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">less than 3%<\/a>\u00a0of the amount originally\u00a0sought by federal prosecutors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fusion GPS was paid\u00a0$523,651 by Katsyv<\/strong>\u00a0to investigate London Banker Bill Browder who pushed for the Magnitsky Act, while\u00a0Katsyv&#8217;s attorney,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ibankcoin.com\/zeropointnow\/files\/2017\/11\/vesel.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Natalia Veselnitskaya<\/a>,\u00a0<strong>was in the United States actively lobbying\u00a0to remove the sanctions\u00a0<\/strong>imposed by the Magnitsky Act.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fusion GPS associate Rob Goldstone\u00a0<\/strong>set up the infamous meeting at Trump Tower\u00a0between Donald Trump Jr.,\u00a0<strong>Katsyv&#8217;s lawyer\u00a0<\/strong>Natalia Veselnitskaya and various associates. The meeting was pitched to Trump Jr. as a &#8220;discussion on adoption&#8221;(<a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/354537-russian-lawyers-email-points-to-sanctions-as-focus-of-meeting-with\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not\u00a0opposition research on Hillary Clinton<\/a>)\u00a0and was shut down by Trump Jr. after it became clear Veselnitskaya wanted to discuss the Magnitsky Act &#8211; which Don Jr. apparently didn&#8217;t realize was linked to the adoption issue. Others present at the meeting include Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and Rob Goldstone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hours before the Trump Tower meeting, Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/11\/07\/fusion-gps-founder-met-with-russian-at-center-of-trump-tower-meeting\/\">met with Veselnitskaya<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u><strong>Meanwhile&#8230;<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fusion GPS was paid $1,024,408 by DNC law firm Perkins Coie, which acted as an intermediary for Hillary Clinton and the DNC,\u00a0to create the salacious 34 page dossier.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fusion paid former British spy Christopher Steele $168,000\u00a0<\/strong>to assemble the document (which had the cooperation of\u00a0two\u00a0senior Kremlin officials).<\/li>\n<li>Clinton campaign manager\u00a0<strong>John Podesta met with Fusion CEO Glenn Simpson\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/11\/11\/john-podesta-met-with-fusion-gps-founder-after-trump-dossier-was-published\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">day after<\/a>\u00a0the 34 page dossier was made public.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For their efforts,\u00a0<strong>Fusion GPS was paid over $1.5 million dollars between Hillary Clinton, the\u00a0DNC, and the holding company owned by pro-Kremlin businessman\u00a0Denis Katsyv.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also recall that Fusion GPS hired\u00a0<strong>Nellie Ohr<\/strong>, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-12-14\/court-filing-confirms-fusion-gps-hired-doj-officials-cia-wife-dig-dirt-trump\"><strong>CIA-linked<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0wife of demoted DOJ official, Bruce Ohr, to help with investigation Trump, and that\u00a0<strong>Bruce Ohr was demoted after meeting with Simpson and Christopher Steele,\u00a0<\/strong>the former MI6 spy who assembled the dossier for Fusion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/oHRSG_0.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/oHRSG_0.png\" alt=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/oHRSG_0.png\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"250e6f58-4174-458d-bd9b-6ddad9c86454\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>House investigators have determined that\u00a0<strong>Ohr met shortly after the election with Glenn Simpson<\/strong>, the founder of Fusion GPS the opposition research firm that hired Steele to compile the dossier with funds supplied by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;evidence collected by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), chaired by Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., indicates that\u00a0<strong>Ohr met during the 2016 campaign with Christopher Steele<\/strong>, the former British spy who authored the dossier. \u00a0\u00a0&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2017\/12\/07\/top-doj-official-demoted-amid-probe-contacts-with-trump-dossier-firm.html\"><em>Fox News<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Let&#8217;s also remember\u00a0Fusion&#8217;s failed\u00a0effort to link the President to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Since you asked, yes, they helped me with that<\/strong>, Mr. Silverstein said.\u00a0<strong>But as you can see, I could not make a strong case for Trump being super close to Epstein, so they could hardly have been thrilled with that story.<\/strong>\u00a0[In my humble opinion], that was the best story written about Trumps ties to Epstein, but\u00a0<strong>I failed to nail him.
