Trump’s ‘mental state’ is ‘going to crescendo in more insane behavior’<\/h3>\n

The hosts of Morning Joe are using their show to rally members of Trump’s cabinet remove the president from office.<\/p>\n

This cabinet-led coup could happen via the 25th\u00a0Amendment, host Joe Scarborough said Friday. That amendment to the Constitution,\u00a0adopted in 1967, deals with replacing a president who is no longer able to “discharge the powers and duties of his office,” which these hosts say applies to Trump due to his apparent mental incapacitation.<\/p>\n

“If you\u2019ve been around mental health issues in your life … the pressure heightens, it gets worse,” Donny Deutsch said Friday.\u00a0“And we should be frightened right now.\u00a0We should be \u2014 there is nothing glib about it.”<\/p>\n

“At what point do you go to article 25? [sic]” Deutsch asked.<\/p>\n

Deutsch said he’s able to diagnose a change in Trump’s mental state: “I have known him for 20 years and I\u2019ve spent hours and hours with him, everything from negotiating leases to at-school functions to hours and hours of interviewing him on my old show. He\u2019s not the same guy. You can see it in his eyes and in his speech pattern, and most frighteningly his behavior. I think there\u2019s something else happening here. If you’ve been around mental illness and whatnot, I think he\u2019s feeling the noose around his neck tightening with Mueller.”<\/p>\n

“So take a guy who is mentally unstable,” Deutsch continued.\u00a0“Now put a gun closer \u2014 metaphorically, closer and closer to his head, and I think that\u2019s what you\u2019re seeing this week. I think there\u2019s a new level, and I think we\u2019re going to see it heightened as these two stories are coming together. His mental health and the Russian inquiry are coming together and it\u2019s going to crescendo in even more insane behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scarborough also predicted Trump’s mental health would deteriorate.<\/p>\n

“My mom has dementia,” Scarborough said.\u00a0“She had pre-dementia for several years. My father\u2019s death, the pressure of that, is when we really lost her. And so it got exponentially worse very first. The more pressure you\u2019re under in this \u2014 if this is, in fact, the problem, the worse it gets.”<\/p>\n

Scarborough\u00a0said that Trump confidantes agree with him that Trump has “mentally devolved.”<\/p>\n

“There is no doubt mentally, and maybe it\u2019s the pressure of the campaign and this, everybody that\u2019s known Trump for years says he has mentally devolved, and I just want to know when it\u2019s safe to start talking about it and writing about it,” he said.<\/p>\n

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson said mental health experts warned him that Trump’s behavior would get worse.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“I mean, it\u2019s just extraordinary. How much worse can it get?” he asked.\u00a0“I fear it can get worse, and the people who are professionals in mental health frankly tell me this doesn\u2019t get better. This probably won\u2019t get better. It\u2019s not going to resolve itself somehow. And as you said, he tends to want to escape the people who could keep him on the straight and narrow, so maybe we need to shut down Mar-a-Lago.\u201d<\/p>\n

During a conversation about Trump’s retweets that caught the ire of British lawmakers, Deutsch went further, declaring that this behavior shows he’s a “sociopath.”<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you know who does things without any thinking about repercussions?” he asked.\u00a0“A sociopath.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Thursday,\u00a0Scarborough said the 25th\u00a0Amendment was created for situations like this<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“He is completely detached from reality,\u00a0we had a New York Times and Washington Post piece saying so a couple of days ago, and the question is Mika,” Scarborough said,\u00a0“if this is not what the 25th\u00a0Amendment was drafted for, I would like the cabinet members serving America, not serving the president” to act accordingly.<\/p>\n

“He is completely detached from reality,\u00a0we had a New York Times and Washington Post piece saying so a couple of days ago, and the question is Mika,” Scarborough said,\u00a0“if this is not what the 25th\u00a0Amendment was drafted for, I would like the cabinet members serving America, not serving the president” to act accordingly.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Scarborough was more circumspect, though still advocating for removing Trump from office.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 25th Amendment, again, Mika, it wasn\u2019t put for a situation like this,” Scarborough said.\u00a0“It\u2019s hard to wonder \u2014 it\u2019s very complicated, but you do wonder.”<\/p>\n
