Few have seen it I’m sure, but the latter part of my post at 3:38 p.m. EST “seethes” with insinuation that a very unusual earthquake could shake New York City later in the day, and one did hit Delaware at 4:47 p.m. EST.<\/p>\n

CSEM-EMSC shows it was a magnitude 4.6, while USGS puts it at 4.1–<\/p>\n

\n: Crystal Palace in London being destroyed by fire late
\n: November 30, 1936: “On 30 November 1936 came the final
\n: catastrophe \u2013 fire…even though 89 fire engines and over
\n: 400 firemen arrived they were unable to extinguish it…
\n: Buckland said, “In a few hours we have seen the end of
\n: the Crystal Palace. Yet it will live in the memories not
\n: only of Englishmen, but the whole world”. 100,000
\n: people came to Sydenham Hill to watch the blaze, among them
\n: Winston Churchill, who said, “This is the end of an
\n: age”.”
