Barack Obama began his political career by being a \u201ccommunity organizer\u201d in Chicago. After that, his political rise was dizzying \u2014 from the Illinois state legislature to the U.S. Senate, and then to the White House.<\/p>\n

Saul Alinsky<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Saul Alinsky<\/a>\u00a0(1909-1972), the son of Russian Jewish immigrants, wrote the book on community organizing and, as such, is the guru of all \u201ccommunity organizers\u201d \u2014 a deceptively innocuous term for what Marxists used to call \u201cagitprop\u201d or agitators-propagandists.<\/p>\n

Alinsky was not the first to realize that successful Marxist revolutions depend on organizational prowess, but he was the first to write a \u201chow to\u201d organizational manual for aspiring Marxist revolutionaries in the United States \u2014 the now famous\u00a0Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(1971).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Alinsky\u2019s ideas have been used by the Left in inner cities and college campuses.\u00a0Hillary Clinton\u2019s senior thesis at Wellesley College was on Alinsky<\/a>. So influential is Alinsky that\u00a0Time<\/em>magazine once wrote that \u201cAmerican democracy is being altered by Alinsky\u2019s ideas.\u201d Even conservative author\u00a0William F. Buckley<\/a>said Alinsky was \u201cvery close to being an organizational genius.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alinsky biographer Sanford Horwitt<\/a>\u00a0claims that\u00a0not only did\u00a0Obama<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0follow Alinsky\u2019s teachings as a Chicago-based community organizer, Obama\u2019s 2008 presidential campaign was influenced by those teachings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alinsky\u2019s rules are also wielded by Internet trolls.<\/strong>\u00a0Conservatives, therefore, should thoroughly acquaint ourselves with those rules, so that we can quickly recognize an Alinskyite, identify the tactic s\/he is using against us and, even better, use those tactics against\u00a0them<\/em>. Here\u2019s a brief summary of the rules (h\/t\u00a0The Union News<\/a>):<\/p>\n

Alinsky\u2019s 13 Rules for the Left:<\/h2>\n

1. Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Never go outside the experience of your people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Whenever possible, go outside of the experience of the enemy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.<\/strong><\/p>\n

5. Ridicule is man\u2019s most potent weapon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.<\/strong><\/p>\n

8. Keep the pressure on with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.<\/strong><\/p>\n

9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.<\/strong><\/p>\n

10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.<\/strong><\/p>\n

12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.<\/strong><\/p>\n

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My experience from 5 years of daily blogging is that the trolls who come onto FOTM typically resort to Alinsky Rules #4 and #5.<\/p>\n

Christians must watch out for #4. Leftist trolls deploy it against Christians by invoking OUT OF CONTEXT Jesus\u2019 injunction to \u201cjudge not,\u201d as if Christ our Lord actually means for us not to distinguish right from wrong. On the contrary, He abhors the \u201clukewarm\u201d \u2014 the fence-sitters who stand for nothing, being neither hot nor cold. (See \u201cWhy we must admonish the wicked<\/a>\u201c)<\/p>\n

It should give us pause to know that Alinsky was an admirer of Lucifer \u2014 the rebel angel so full of pride that he thought himself to be \u201cas God,\u201d who Jesus said \u201cfell as lightning\u201d and so became Satan. To begin with,\u00a0Alinsky dedicated his book,\u00a0Rules for Radicals<\/em>, to Lucifer, aka the Devil:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>There\u2019s more.<\/p>\n

Alinsky so admired Lucifer he wanted to join Satan in Hell.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1972,\u00a0Playboy<\/em>\u00a0magazine did\u00a0an interview with Saul Alinsky<\/a>. Toward the end of the long interview, Alinsky was asked about death and the afterlife. Although Alinsky professed agnosticism about the existence of God, he said he was brought up by orthodox Jews and considered himself to be a devout Jew until the age of 12, after which he \u201cwent through some pretty rapid withdrawal symptoms and kicked the habit.\u201d Nevertheless, he told\u00a0Playboy<\/em>, \u201cBut I\u2019ll tell you one thing about religious identity, whenever anyone asks me my religion, I always say\u2014and always will say\u2014 Jewish.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Playboy<\/em>\u00a0interviewer then asked Alinsky: \u201cDo you believe in any kind of afterlife?\u201d This was Alinsky\u2019s response:<\/p>\n

\u201cALINSKY: Sometimes it seems to me that the question people should ask is not \u201cIs there life after death?\u201d but \u201cIs there life after birth?\u201d I don\u2019t know whether there\u2019s anything after this or not. I haven\u2019t seen the evidence one way or the other and I don\u2019t think anybody else has either. But I do know that man\u2019s obsession with the question comes out of his stubborn refusal to face up to his own mortality. Let\u2019s say that\u00a0if there is an afterlife, and I have anything to say about it, I will unreservedly choose to go to hell.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

PLAYBOY: Why?<\/em><\/p>\n

ALINSKY:\u00a0Hell would be heaven for me.\u00a0All my life I\u2019ve been with the have-nots. Over here, if you\u2019re a have-not, you\u2019re short of dough.\u00a0If you\u2019re a have-not in hell, you\u2019re short of virtue. Once I get into hell, I\u2019ll start organizing the have-nots over there.<\/em><\/p>\n

PLAYBOY: Why them?<\/em><\/p>\n

ALINSKY:\u00a0They\u2019re my kind of people.\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n
