{"id":87932,"date":"2017-10-29T15:05:57","date_gmt":"2017-10-29T19:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=87932"},"modified":"2017-10-29T15:08:01","modified_gmt":"2017-10-29T19:08:01","slug":"even-obamas-cia-director-thinks-clintons-dossier-payments-need-to-be-investigated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=87932","title":{"rendered":"Even Obama&#8217;s CIA Director Thinks Clinton&#8217;s Dossier Payments Need To Be Investigated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Over the past couple of days, various senior members of Hillary&#8217;s team have all come forward to deny any knowledge that her campaign funds were used to pay for the now-infamous &#8220;Trump Dossier.&#8221;\u00a0 Just yesterday, Clinton&#8217;s former spokesman,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/7eeF1blWHKg\">Brian Fallon, appeared on CNN<\/a>\u00a0to imply that Hillary likely had no idea and John Podesta, Hillary&#8217;s campaign Chair, apparently testified to congressional Russia investigators, presumably under oath, that he too was not aware of the controversial payments.\u00a0 Per\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2017\/10\/26\/politics\/john-podesta-fusion-gps\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Hillary Clinton&#8217;s campaign chairman John Podesta and former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz both privately denied to congressional Russia investigators that they had any knowledge about an arrangement to pay for opposition research on President Donald Trump,<\/strong>\u00a0three sources familiar with the matter told CNN.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The interviews happened before this week&#8217;s disclosure that the Clinton campaign and DNC paid for the research.<\/strong>\u00a0Senate investigators may seek to further question the two top Democrats and dig deeper on the origins of the so-called Trump dossier, one of the sources briefed on the matter said.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Of course, it would seem highly unlikely that literally millions of dollars could be spent by a political campaign on &#8220;opposition research&#8221; without a single senior representative of said campaign approving such expenditures.\u00a0 Moreover, if that did happen then it raises a whole other set of questions about what financial controls the Hillary campaign had in place, if any, and what else her political donations may have been used to purchase that went completely &#8220;unnoticed&#8221; by anyone who matters.<\/p>\n<p>Alas, it seems as though at least one person with ties to the Clintons,\u00a0<strong>Obama&#8217;s former CIA Director Leon Panetta, is not buying the narrative.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0In speaking with CNN&#8217;s Wolf Blitzer, Panetta admitted that a\u00a0<strong>Congressional intelligence committee needs to investigate &#8220;who knew what when.&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0 Per the<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/10\/26\/obama-cia-director-intel-committee-needs-to-look-into-clinton-campaigns-payments-for-dossier-video\/\">\u00a0Daily Caller<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Well, it\u2019s obviously something that the intelligence committee is going to have to look at,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Panetta said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, knowing presidential campaigns, they\u2019re big operations and somehow the left hand may not know what the right hand is doing. And that could be the case here,\u00a0<strong>but I really do think that the committee is going to have to get into this, determine just exactly what happened. Who knew what and when.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"max-width-video-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"fluid-width-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"fitvid36643\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MX59wwTP6u4\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, and to our great shock no less, it was Wolf Blitzer who notes that Marc Elias, the Pekins Coie attorney and Hillary Clinton general counsel who sent the money to Fusion GPS, was sitting right next to John Podesta when he allegedly denied to congressional investigators that the Hillary campaign had any part in funding the dossier&#8230;<strong>which begs the question of whether Elias had a legal obligation to correct the record in that instance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Adding further mystery to the \u201cwho knew what and when\u201d question was the revelation on Thursday that Podesta testified to the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this month that he was not aware of who paid for the dossier.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>But Podesta happened to be sitting next to Marc Elias, the Perkins Coie lawyer who orchestrated the deal to pay opposition research firm Fusion GPS to conduct the investigation that led to the dossier.<\/strong>\u00a0Elias was general counsel for the Clinton campaign and DNC.
