Hillary Clinton ‘appalled’ by Weinstein allegations, will donate his contributions<\/h1>\n

Hillary Clinton said in a CNN interview Wednesday that she\u00a0was \u201csick\u201d and \u201cshocked\u201d to learn of sexual misconduct allegations against Hollywood mogul and longtime Democratic donor Harvey Weinstein, adding she will give away\u00a0his past contributions to her political campaigns to charity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was appalled,\u201d Clinton said of the accusations. \u201cIt was something that was just intolerable in every way. And, you know, like so many people who\u2019ve come forward and spoken out, this was a different side of a person who I and many others had known in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Fareed Zakaria as part of her\u00a0current book tour<\/a>, the former Democratic presidential nominee acknowledged she \u201cprobably would have\u201d called Weinstein a friend prior to hearing about his alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople in Democratic politics for a couple of decades appreciated his help and support,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I think these stories coming to light now \u2014 and people who never spoke out before having the courage to speak out \u2014 just clearly demonstrates that this behavior that he engaged in cannot be tolerated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding Weinstein\u2019s donations, Clinton said it wasn\u2019t possible to return the money but she would give it to charity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat other people are saying, what my former colleagues are saying, is they\u2019re going to donate it to charity, and of course I will do that,\u201d she said. \u201cI give 10 percent of my income to charity every year, this will be part of that. There\u2019s no \u2014 there\u2019s no doubt about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
