BOB UNRUH<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span> In yet another revealing video, Obamacare adviser Jonathan Gruber disclosed President Obama himself was part of the discussion about the need to deceive the American people to pass his signature health-care law.<\/p>\n \u201cThe problem is it\u2019s a political nightmare, and people say, \u2018No, you can\u2019t tax my benefits,\u201d Gruber said in a June 13, 2012, interview with the PBS program \u201cFrontline. \u201d \u2026 So what we did a lot in that room was think a lot about, well how could we make this work.\u201d<\/p>\n Gruber describe Obama as \u201creally a realistic guy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe was, \u2018Look, I can\u2019t just do this.\u2019 He said, \u2018It\u2019s just not going to happen politically. The bill will not pass. How do we manage to get there through phase-ins and other things?\u2019 And we talked about it. He was just very interested in that topic,\u201d Gruber said.<\/p>\n Gruber is the\u00a0Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/a>\u00a0economics professor who already has been revealed in several video clips calling the American voting public \u201cstupid\u201d and explaining that the only way to get Obamacare passed was to deceive voters.<\/p>\n Reacting to Gruber\u2019s comments for the first time, Obama said Monday at a news conference in Australia:\u00a0<\/a>\u201cThe fact that some adviser who never worked on our staff expressed an opinion that I completely disagree with in terms of the voters is no reflection on the actual process that was run.\u201d<\/p>\n Commentator Guy Benson at the blog\u00a0Hot Air\u00a0<\/a>observed the latest unearthed video might indicate why Obama was \u201cso keen on obscuring the nature of his signature law\u2019s taxes.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPerhaps because he\u2019d just recently spent months relentlessly hammering John McCain over a proposal to tax health benefits \u2018for the first time.\u2019 So he needed MacGruber to swoop in and help craft a strategy of evasion and deflection.\u201d<\/p>\n Benson noted Obama insisted he \u201cnever misled the public on Obamacare (which virtually nobody really buys at this point, and for good reason).\u201d<\/p>\n But the video, Benson said, \u201ccontains evidence that the president was personally huddling with Gruber on the Obamacare sales pitch, charging him with fashioning accounting tricks that might provide a politically necessary fig leaf.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s impossible for the White House to just divorce itself from this guy. He was very much their guy. Not only did they furnish Gruber with $400,000 for his services, they made him a leading point person for \u2018drafting the specifics\u2019 of the law with Congress,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n WND reported<\/a>\u00a0another video shows Gruber talking about how smart Obama is:<\/p>\n Gruber says in the video, \u201cNow Barack Obama\u2019s not a stupid man.\u201d<\/p>\n His comment was in the context of Obama knowing that \u201cthe American public doesn\u2019t actually care that much about the uninsured.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s why, he said, although the Obamacare legislation was 90 percent about health insurance coverage and 10 percent about cost control, all the American public heard about was the cost control.<\/p>\n Gruber\u2019s praise of the Obama administration\u2019s deceptive maneuvering to pass the law has drawn widespread reaction from Democrats as well as Republicans.<\/p>\n Fox News\u2019 commentator Charles Krauthammer said Gruber\u2019s admissions prove that those who opposed Obamacare were correct all along.<\/p>\n See Krauthammer\u2019s comments:<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThis is exactly what conservatives have been saying. \u2026 What we\u2019re hearing now is the true voice of liberal arrogance,\u201d Krauthammer said. \u201cThey believe this. They believe that the voters are stupid as he said. And they believe they know the right way, they have to lead the masses to the promised land and they can only do it by deception. And that\u2019s what he said openly.\u201d<\/p>\n Krauthammer said the attitude was, \u201c\u2018We wanted to get the bill and we didn\u2019t care how we did it, so we lied about everything.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAs Gruber said, had they known that, it never would have passed. They lied about every aspect of this,\u201d Krauthammer said. \u201cBut they got away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n In the first video that surfaced, Gruber said, \u201cThis bill was written in a tortured way to make sure the CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If the CBO scores the mandate as taxes, the bill dies.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued to discuss the lack of transparency, which was a \u201chuge political advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBasically you know call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever that was really really critical to get the thing to pass.\u201d<\/p>\n His comments:<\/em><\/p>\n In a second video, he discussed how the costs were going to be imposed on Americans and said, \u201cThe American voters are too stupid to understand.\u201d<\/p>\n See the video:<\/em><\/p>\n Then in another, he discussed the \u201clack of economic understanding\u201d of Americans:<\/p>\n Asked to explain his comments in the videos, Gruber dismissed them as off-the-cuff and said he shouldn\u2019t have made them.<\/p>\n But Fox News commentator Greta VanSusteren noted the repeated statements.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s not off the cuff. That\u2019s a deep-seated view.\u201d<\/p>\n Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., found that Gruber had been paid $400,000 for his work for the administration, and he suggested a solution.<\/p>\n \u201cHe ought to give the money back.\u201d<\/p>\n WND also reported<\/a>\u00a0Gruber confirmed the administration knew U.S. workers would lose their job-based health insurance when Obama\u2019s legislation took effect.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you like your health-care plan, you can keep it,\u201d Obama said numerous times when pitching the new law.<\/p>\n But by fall 2013, more than 4 million Americans were getting cancellation letters in their mailboxes.<\/p>\n As it turns out, Gruber apparently knew it would happen, comparing U.S. workers losing their insurance to people \u201cfalling off a building.\u201d<\/p>\n In a Nov. 13 piece for Time magazine<\/a>, reporter Kate Pickert wrote: \u201cI\u2019ve talked to Gruber many times over the past six years. He\u2019s a good source because he\u2019s smart, candid and was privy to the Democratic behind-the-scenes thinking and maneuvering that preceded passage of the Affordable Care Act.\u201d<\/p>\n Pickert recalled a particular conversation she had with Gruber: \u201cIn 2013, for instance, I asked Gruber if Democrats understood that the ACA would slowly and methodically erode the system under which millions of Americans get health insurance through their jobs.
