Patriots Owner Robert Kraft issued a stinging rebuke to President Trump over his comments, in which he\u00a0called<\/a>\u00a0protesting NFL players \u201cSOB\u2019s.\u201d Kraft\u00a0called<\/a>\u00a0the president\u2019s words \u201cdeeply disappointing,\u201d adding that there\u2019s \u201cnothing more divisive than politics.\u201d<\/h3>\n

Those words, especially coming from a friend, and someone who supported Trump during the campaign, caused quite a stir. On Monday, another Patriot who supported Trump and calls him a friend, distanced himself from the commander-in-chief. During his weekly radio appearance on WEEI in Boston, Tom Brady made it clear that he\u2019s not in agreement with Trump when it comes to athletes who protest in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Brady\u00a0said<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cI certainly disagree with what he said,\u201d Brady said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. \u201cI thought it was just divisive.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if Trump had bigger things he needed to be worried about, other than protesting athletes, Brady said:\u00a0\u201cI just want to support my teammates. I\u2019m never one that says, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s wrong or that\u2019s right.\u2019 But I do believe in what I believe in, and I believe in bringing people together and respect and love and trust. Those are the values that my parents instilled in me and that\u2019s how I try to live every day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been blessed to be in a locker room with guys from all over the United States over the course of my career. Some of my great friends are from Florida, Virginia, New York, Montana, Colorado, Texas. I think one thing about football is that it brings so many guys together, guys that you would never have the opportunity to be around, whether it was in college and all the way into the pros. We\u2019re all different. We\u2019re all unique. That\u2019s what makes us all so special.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about the Patriots fans who could be heard booing the team on Sunday, Brady said:\u00a0\u201cNo, I think everyone has a right to do whatever they want to do. If you don\u2019t agree with it, that\u2019s fine, you can voice your disagreement; I think that\u2019s great. It\u2019s part of our democracy, as long as it\u2019s done in a peaceful, respectful way. That\u2019s what this country has been all about.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be interesting to see if there are any \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d hats to be found in Brady\u2019s locker in 2020.<\/p>\n
