President Donald Trump has decided to formally end President Barack Obama\u2019s legally troubled \u201cDACA\u201d amnesty for 800,000 \u00a0younger illegal immigrants, according\u00a0to\u00a0Politico.<\/h2>\n
The leak to Politico came from two officials, according to the Politico article.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump has decided to end the Obama-era program that grants work permits to undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as children, according to two sources familiar with his thinking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Trump\u2019s decision will anger\u00a0business interests<\/a>, progressives, and the establishment media sector,\u00a0and some business-friendly GOP leaders, such as House Speaker\u00a0Paul Ryan<\/a>. But the decision likely will be broadly popular among the majority of Americans.<\/p>\n
Many\u00a0polls show<\/a>\u00a0that Americans sympathize with the illegals, but also strongly prefer that immigration laws be used to ensure that Americans\u00a0workers are not disadvantaged by the corporate hiring of cheap illegal migrants.<\/p>\n
Trump is expected to combine his Tuesday announcement of the program\u2019s demise with a call for Congress to pass pro-American immigration\u00a0reform, such as the popular\u00a0\u00a0Raise Act<\/a>merit immigration bill.<\/p>\n

In a nod to reservations held by many lawmakers, the White House plans to delay the enforcement of the president\u2019s decision for six months, giving Congress a window to act, according to one White House official. But a senior White House aide said that chief of staff John Kelly, who has been running the West Wing policy process on the issue, \u201cthinks Congress should\u2019ve gotten its act together a lot longer ago.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The immigration reform debate is expected to stretch far into the 2018\u00a0election year, partly because many other issues clog up Congress\u2019 near-term calendar. Also, Democrats and business groups oppose any reduction in the annual legal inflow of roughly\u00a0850,000 low-skill, low-wage\u00a0workers.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s pending Raise Act reform would trim the inflow of lower-skilled immigrants who are now being brought into the country\u00a0via \u201cchain migration\u201d family\u00a0reunification rules. That reform would likely save\u00a0$1 trillion<\/a>\u00a0in long-term aid, education, retirement, and welfare spending for every decade the inflow is halved, according to a recent estimate. That reduced taxpayer\u00a0spending translates into lower revenue forecasts for business interests.<\/p>\n
The Trump reform would also help many Americans and their children\u00a0find better jobs at higher wages,\u00a0business groups<\/a>\u00a0admit.<\/p>\n
Since 2012, the DACA amnesty has provided work permits to roughly 800,000 illegal immigrants, including many who arrived in the 1990s. Their ages range from 15 to the mid-30s. Establishment media outlets describe the illegals as \u201cchildren\u201d or \u201ckids,\u201d but their average age\u00a0is roughly\u00a025<\/a>. DACA supporters depict the migrants as productive and well-educated, but the available\u00a0data shows the illegals\u2019 skills are\u00a0relatively low<\/a>.<\/p>\n
The decision to end DACA was driven by several factors. They included Trump\u2019s campaign trail promise to close down the amnesty, and the\u00a0broad consensus<\/a>\u00a0among legal experts \u2014 including Attorney General Jeff Sessions \u2014 that Obama\u2019s\u00a0Oval Office offer of work-permit to illegal violates the constitutional separation of powers. Also, a group of nine Attorneys\u00a0General<\/p>\n

Each year, the government provide Green Cards to roughly 1 million legal immigrants. It also hands out\u00a0almost 3 million short-term work permits<\/a>\u00a0to foreign workers. These permits include\u00a0roughly 330,000 one-year OPT permits<\/a>\u00a0for foreign graduates of U.S. colleges, roughly\u00a0200,000 three-year H-1B visas<\/a>\u00a0for foreign white-collar professionals, and 400,000 two-year permits to DACA illegals.<\/p>\n
The current\u00a0annual flood<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0foreign labor<\/a>\u00a0spikes profits and Wall Street values<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0cutting salaries<\/a>\u00a0for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. It also drives up real estate prices<\/a>,\u00a0widens wealth-gaps<\/a>, reduces\u00a0high-tech investment<\/a>, increases\u00a0state and local tax burdens<\/a>, hurts\u00a0kids\u2019 schools\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0college education<\/a>, pushes Americans\u00a0away from high-tech careers<\/a>, and sidelines\u00a0at least 5 million marginalized\u00a0Americans<\/a>\u00a0and their families.<\/p>\n
