Refineries in the areas affected by the hurricane will likely be sidelined for weeks, and gasoline futures spiked. Downtime is a negative for the refining industry, but better margins would more than compensate for the effect.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of refiners that operate mostly outside the Southeast jumped the most, with stock of Delek U.S. Holdings Inc.\u00a0<span class=\"quote up bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/93093499\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/dk?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockDK\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">DK,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">+8.79%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0PBF Energy Inc.\u00a0<span class=\"quote up bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/13139747\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/pbf?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockPBF\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">PBF,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">+8.30%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0and HollyFrontier Corp.\u00a0<span class=\"quote up bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/5690091\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/hfc?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockHFC\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">HFC,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">+6.46%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0all surging more than 7%. These would be best positioned given the widening crude differentials and their unaffected operations, analysts at Raymond James said in a note.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf product flow from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast is disrupted, PBF Energy may see benefits given its relative overweight position in the northeast,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read now:<\/strong>\u00a0<a class=\"icon none\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/dont-let-anyone-tell-you-hurricane-harvey-wont-damage-the-us-economy-2017-08-28\">Don\u2019t let anyone tell you Hurricane Harvey won\u2019t damage the U.S. economy<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/video-api.wsj.com\/api-video\/player\/v3\/iframe.html?guid=B312482F-1107-47B1-AC83-7BB1DAB66182&amp;shareDomain=http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com&amp;site=video.marketwatch.com\" width=\"512\" height=\"288\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Exploration and production companies with more exposure to Texan oil basins will likely feel the lingering impact from Harvey the most, said Brian Youngberg, an analyst with Edward Jones.<\/p>\n<p>Stock of sizable Permian operators including Anadarko Petroleum Corp.<span class=\"quote down bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/217978\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/apc?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockAPC\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">APC,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">-2.57%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0and Apache Corp.\u00a0<span class=\"quote down bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/218137\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/apa?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockAPA\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">APA,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">-1.77%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0fell the most. Anadarko was down 3.4%, while Apache slid 2.8%. For those companies, their operations will be hurt and they will have fewer outlets for their oil. As long as the refineries are down, E&amp;P companies will see their inventories rise, said Youngberg.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of giants such as Exxon Mobil Corp.\u00a0<span class=\"quote down bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/203975\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/xom?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockXOM\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">XOM,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">-0.33%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0and Chevron Corp.<span class=\"quote down bgQuote\" data-channel=\"\/quotes\/zigman\/289939\/composite\" data-bgformat=\"\"><a class=\"qt-chip trackable\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/investing\/stock\/cvx?mod=MW_story_quote\" data-fancyid=\"XNYSStockCVX\" data-track-mod=\"MW_story_quote\">CVX,\u00a0<span class=\"bgPercentChange\">-0.43%<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0held up better, as they have oil and gas fields all around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Refineries could be down for days, analysts agreed.
