{"id":82216,"date":"2017-08-28T17:04:56","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T21:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=82216"},"modified":"2017-08-28T17:18:50","modified_gmt":"2017-08-28T21:18:50","slug":"unprecedented-rain-event-east-texas-devastated-by-tropical-storm-rains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=82216","title":{"rendered":"UNPRECEDENTED RAIN EVENT: East Texas Devastated By Tropical Storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"title\">Shocking Drone Footage Shows Harvey&#8217;s &#8220;Unprecedented&#8221; Devastation, &#8220;No Parallel To Any Rainstorm In US History&#8221;<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Based on the number of people affected, amount of water involved, and other factors, meteorologists have warned,\u00a0<strong>there may be no parallel available to any other rainstorm in U.S. history<\/strong>\u00a0as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2017\/08\/27\/harvey-dumps-11-trillion-gallons-water-houston-flood\/#WaYEDvWOLaqo\">Mashable&#8217;s Andrew Freeman reports<\/a>\u00a0Tropical Storm Harvey has dropped\u00a0<strong>more than 11 trillion gallons of water on Texas,<\/strong>\u00a0triggering catastrophic, unprecedented flooding in the Houston area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/08\/26\/20170828_harvey1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/08\/26\/20170828_harvey1_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The rains have broken all-time records, exceeding the rainfall totals seen during Tropical Storm Allison in 2001<\/strong>&#8230; and it could be about to get a lot worse as forecasters are expecting the storm to turn back and drench what is left of Houston once again midweek.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"quote_start\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\">\u00a0According to Ryan Maue, a meteorologist at WeatherBell, a private forecasting firm,\u00a0<strong>there is still up to 16 trillion gallons more rain likely to fall in the state,<\/strong>\u00a0based on forecasts from the National Weather Service (NWS).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"quote_end\">The Weather Service office in Houston reported just over 2 feet of rain in 24 hours between 7 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday morning, causing August to become the wettest month on record there.\u00a0<strong>Forecast totals call for isolated rainfall amounts of up to 50 inches before Harvey finally releases its grip on the Lone Star state late this week<\/strong>.
