It might get that \u2014 or more \u2014 this week.<\/p>\n<p>Calling the downpour from Hurricane Harvey \u201cunprecedented,\u201d the National Weather Service on Sunday warned that areas around Houston may exceed 50 inches of rainfall, a record for Texas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe breadth and intensity of this rainfall is beyond anything experienced before. Catastrophic flooding is now underway and expected to continue for days,\u201d the NWS said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Some areas of Texas have already seen 27 inches of rain since Thursday. It\u2019s already the wettest August in Houston history, with 22.99 inches, a total that may more than double by the time Harvey dies down.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Brock Long told\u00a0<a class=\"icon \" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/fema-director-says-harvey-is-probably-the-worst-disaster-in-texas-history\/2017\/08\/27\/ef01600a-8b3f-11e7-8df5-c2e5cf46c1e2_story.html?tid=ss_tw&amp;utm_term=.fcfa3007d66e\" target=\"_new\">the Washington Post\u00a0<\/a>that Harvey is \u201cprobably the worst disaster\u201d Texas has ever seen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Houston. That storm hit Corpus Christi, Texas, and moved west through San Antonio.
