Jerry Brown&#8217;s bill specifically written to regulate cow farts is a personal favorite of ours.\u00a0 For those who missed it the first time around, here is a brief recap of our post entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2016-09-19\/only-california-governor-jerry-brown-signs-bill-regulate-cow-flatulence\">Only In California &#8211; Governor Jerry Brown Signs Bill To Regulate Cow Flatulence<\/a>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In yet another attack on California businesses, yesterday Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a bill (<a href=\"http:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160SB1383\">SB 1383<\/a>) that\u00a0<strong>requires the state to cut methane emissions from dairy cows and other animals by 40% by 2030<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/westernuniteddairymen.com\/air-resources-board-to-rein-in-cow-flatulence\/\">statement\u00a0<\/a>from Western United Dairymen CEO, Anja Raudabaugh, California&#8217;s Air Resources Board wants to regulate animal methane emissions even though it admits there is no known method for achieving the the type of reduction sought by SB 1383.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The California Air Resources Board wants to regulate cow emissions, even though its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arb.ca.gov\/cc\/shortlived\/shortlived.htm\">Short-Lived Climate Pollutant<\/a>\u00a0(SLCP) reduction strategy acknowledges\u00a0<strong>that there\u2019s no known way to achieve this reduction.<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Among other things, compliance with the bill will likely require California dairies to install &#8220;methane digesters&#8221; that convert the organic matter in manure into methane that can then be converted to energy for on-farm or off-farm consumption.\u00a0 The problem, of course, is that methane digesters are expensive and with\u00a0<strong>California producing 20% of the country&#8217;s milk<\/strong>\u00a0we suspect that means that\u00a0<strong>California has just passed another massive &#8220;food tax&#8221; on the country<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But a new bill penned by Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco, dubbed the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180SB219\">Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Resident\u2019s Bill of Rights<\/a>\u00a0(or SB-219 if you&#8217;re into the whole brevity thing), takes wacky California legislation to a whole new level.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Among other things, the bill makes it illegal for employees of any &#8220;long-term care facility&#8221; to &#8220;willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident\u2019s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This bill would enact the<strong>\u00a0Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Resident\u2019s Bill of Rights.<\/strong>\u00a0Among other things, the bill would make it unlawful, except as specified, for any long-term care facility to take specified actions wholly or partially on the basis of a person\u2019s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status, including, among others,\u00a0<strong>willfully and repeatedly failing to use a resident\u2019s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns,<\/strong>\u00a0or denying admission to a long-term care facility, transferring or refusing to transfer a resident within a facility or to another facility, or discharging or evicting a resident from a facility.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user230519\/imageroot\/2017\/08\/18\/2017.08.18%20-%20Wiener_0.JPG\" alt=\"Wiener\" width=\"600\" height=\"326\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, here are couple of other actions that will now be considered a crime for healthcare workers in California:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>(2)\u00a0<strong>Deny a request by residents to share a room.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(3) Where rooms are assigned by gender, assigning, reassigning, or refusing to assign a room to a transgender resident other than in accordance with the transgender resident\u2019s gender identity, unless at the transgender resident\u2019s request.<\/p>\n<p>(4)\u00a0<strong>Prohibit a resident from using, or harass a resident who seeks to use or does use, a restroom available to other persons of the same gender identity,\u00a0<\/strong>regardless of whether the resident is making a gender transition or appears to be gender-nonconforming. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, requiring a resident to show identity documents in order to gain entrance to a restroom available to other persons of the same gender identity.<\/p>\n<p>(5) Willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident\u2019s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.<\/p>\n<p>(6) Deny a resident the right to wear or be dressed in clothing, accessories, or cosmetics that are permitted for any other resident.<\/p>\n<p>(7)\u00a0<strong>Restrict a resident\u2019s right to associate with other residents or with visitors, including the right to consensual sexual relations,<\/strong>\u00a0unless the restriction is uniformly applied to all residents in a nondiscriminatory manner.
