{"id":79721,"date":"2017-08-03T07:26:41","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T11:26:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=79721"},"modified":"2017-08-03T07:26:41","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T11:26:41","slug":"arrested-dnc-staffer-awan-retains-long-time-clinton-associate-for-legal-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/?p=79721","title":{"rendered":"Arrested DNC Staffer Awan Retains Long-Time Clinton Associate For Legal Help"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>After getting arrested Monday night at Dulles Airport in Northern Virginia while attempting to flee the country on a flight to Qatar, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz&#8217; IT staffer, according to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservativereview.com\/articles\/arrested-dem-it-staffers-attorney-is-major-clinton-ally\">Conservative Review<\/a>, has decided to hire a lawyer with longstanding connections to the Clinton family for legal help.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Gowen, a founding partner at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gowenrhoades.com\/gowen-rhoades-winograd-silva-pllc\/\">Gowen, Rhoades, Winograd and Silva<\/a>, apparently did a little bit of everything for the Clintons over the course of multiple years including working in the Clinton White House, helping President Bill Clinton write his book, &#8220;My Life&#8221;, and serving on Hillary&#8217;s 2008 presidential campaign.\u00a0 Per\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gowenrhoades.com\/christopher-gowen\/\">Gowen&#8217;s bio<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nMr. Gowen left the Public Defender\u2019s office to work for former President William Jefferson Clinton and then-Senator Hillary Clinton.\u00a0<strong>Chris was a fact checker for President Clinton\u2019s memoir, My Life.<\/strong>\u00a0He also served as a\u00a0<strong>traveling aid for President Clinton\u2019s national and international trips.<\/strong>\u00a0Chris finished his tenure with the Clintons by directing the advance operations for then-Senator H<strong>illary Clinton during her 2008 presidential campaign.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Another\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcl.american.edu\/faculty\/gowen\/\">biography<\/a>, published on the American University website, says Gowen worked with several other controversial Clinton projects, including\u00a0<strong>The Clinton Global Initiative, The Clinton Foundation, and The Clinton Health Access Initiative.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Awan\u2019s arrest, Gowen immediately jumped into the fray and hit the ground running with allegations that\u00a0<strong>Awan was a victim of Islamophobia.\u00a0<\/strong>He labeled Awan\u2019s arrest as part of\u00a0<strong>\u201ca right-wing media-driven prosecution by a United States Attorney\u2019s Office that wants to prosecute people for working while Muslim&#8221;<\/strong>&#8230;it&#8217;s almost as if the words are coming straight from Hillary&#8217;s mouth.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user230519\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/26\/2017.07.26%20-%20Gowen_0.JPG\" alt=\"Gwoen\" width=\"400\" height=\"374\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-07-25\/wasserman-schultz-it-aide-arrested-dulles-airport-while-attempting-flee-country\">we noted last night<\/a>, Imran Awan has been charged with bank fraud but it is unclear whether that charge is just a placeholder for other charges that are yet to come.\u00a0 While details are scarce, media reports have alleged that Awan and his brothers potentially ran a procurement scheme in which they bought equipment, then overcharged various House members that employed their IT firm.\u00a0 Meanwhile,\u00a0<strong>some congressional technology aides have alleged that the Awan\u2019s were blackmailing representatives based on the contents of their emails and files<\/strong>, due to the fact that these representatives have displayed unwavering and intense loyalty towards the former aides.<\/p>\n<p>As background, Imran was first employed in 2004 by former Democrat Rep. Robert Wexler (FL) as an \u201cinformation technology director\u201d, before he began working in Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz\u2019s office in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The family was paid extremely well, with Imran Awan being paid nearly $2 million working as an IT support staffer for House Democrats since 2004. Abid Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, were each paid more than $1 million working for House Democrats. In total, since 2003, the family has collected nearly $5 million.<\/p>\n<p>In total, Imran&#8217;s firm was employed by 31 Democrats in Congress, some of whom held extremely sensitive positions on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/twitter.com\/PoliticalShort\/status\/866761542892609537?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&#038;ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zerohedge.com%2Fnews%2F2017-07-26%2Fimran-awan-retains-long-time-clinton-employee-and-confidant-legal-advice<\/p>\n<p>Of course, one of the most intriguing parts of the Awan narrative is precisely why former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (DWS) decided to keep him on her taxpayer-funded payroll right up until his arrest yesterday and whether that decision had anything to do with the whole DNC \/ Hillary email scandals that erupted last summer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"SandboxRoot env-bp-350\" data-twitter-event-id=\"0\"><\/div>\n<p>Along those lines, RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel posed the following questions to DWS earlier this morning&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Debbie Wasserman Shultz needs to answer mounting questions about her staffer\u2019s questionable and illegal actions\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2SRZIGiBAa\">pic.twitter.com\/2SRZIGiBAa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; GOP (@GOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GOP\/status\/890238887158853632?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 26, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div class=\"SandboxRoot env-bp-350\" data-twitter-event-id=\"1\"><\/div>\n<p>&#8230;and appeared on Fox Business to discuss DWS&#8217; curious decisions with regards to Awan (forward to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2017-07-26\/%E2%80%9C[Wasserman%20Schultz]%20kept%20him%20on%20her%20staff.%20He%20was%20a%20taxpayer-funded%20government%20employee%20until%20yesterday%20when%20she%20finally%20fired%20him,%E2%80%9D%20McDaniel%20said%20during%20a%20Fox%20Business%20Network%20interview%20on%20Wednesday.%20%E2%80%9CWe%20need%20to%20figure%20out%20why%20he%E2%80%99s%20under%20criminal%20investigation%20and%20we%E2%80%99re%20not%20hearing%20that%20across%20the%20country%20right%20now.%E2%80%9D%20%20%E2%80%9CWe%20have%20to%20get%20to%20the%20bottom%20of%20this,%20and%20Debbie%20Wasserman%20Schultz%20has%20obstructed%20at%20every%20level%20on%20something%20that%20affects%20potentially%20our%20national%20security,%E2%80%9D%20she%20continued.%20%E2%80%9CWe%20are%20not%20hearing%20the%20Democrats%20talk%20about%20it%20at%20all.%20Where%E2%80%99s%20Debbie%20Wasserman%20Schultz?%E2%80%9D\">4:00 minute mark<\/a>\u00a0in the video below for the relevant discussion).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n\u201c[Wasserman Schultz] kept him on her staff.\u00a0<strong>He was a taxpayer-funded government employee until yesterday when she finally fired him.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>We need to figure out why he\u2019s under criminal investigation and we\u2019re not hearing that across the country right now.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>&#8220;We have to get to the bottom of this, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz has obstructed at every level on something that affects potentially our national security.\u00a0 We are not hearing the Democrats talk about it at all.
