Technology. It\u2019s all fun and games until the technology turns on you, and the next thing you know a police crisis team and S.W.A.T. are outside your home with their guns drawn. Then, you\u2019re in the back of a police cruiser wearing brand new silver bracelets headed for the grey bar hotel. All kidding aside, this is not the first time Amazon\u2019s \u201cAlexa\u201d has been embroiled in a legal controversy. Recall that it wasn\u2019t\u00a0long ago, Arkansas police were demanding\u00a0that Amazon turn over information collected from a murder suspect\u2019s Echo.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the following video,\u00a0Right Wing News<\/a>\u00a0pokes fun at the humorous side of this story, but then immediately takes a far more serious tone with respect to the larger issues that a story of this type\u00a0raises. Immediately two questions come to mind:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Why is data containing recorded conversations of\u00a0private citizens\u2019 conversations sitting on Amazon\u2019s servers<\/em>\u00a0in the first place?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Are we now at a point when a person has to\u00a0give informed consent to be recorded each time they enter an Alexa-outfitted home?<\/em>\u00a0Furthermore, if consent is required, which party has the burden? Does the homeowner need to ask guests if they consent to potentially being recorded, or is the burden of responsibility on the guest to inquire about whether the home is Alexa-outfitted, and therefore might be recording?<\/strong><\/p>\n

While these questions might give many Americans a moment of pause or concern when they\u2019re\u00a0considered alongside\u00a0the fact\u00a0that people are going to jail, and these issues are coming up in court during murder trials, but in reality it\u2019s alreaady too late.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Americans have been asleep at the wheel for too long!\u00a0Those questions are \u201cso yesterday.\u201d As you\u2019ll learn in the links provided at the end of this post, our intelligence agencies\u00a0have\u00a0graduated to a level of spying that goes way beyond anything involving Alexa\u2026 Just ask President Trump!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
