LA plant explosion sparks widespread power outages (VIDEOS)<\/h1>\n

A power plant explosion has left large areas of Los Angeles without electricity, affecting homes, businesses and even vital infrastructure like traffic lights.<\/p>\n

The outages hit more than 140,000 homes and businesses in the San Fernando Valley Saturday, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP)\u00a0confirmed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLADWP apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates customers\u2019 patience as we work to restore power as safely and quickly as possible,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the department said.<\/p>\n
