Numerous Stocks Register $123.47\/Share?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Nasdaq Triggers Market-Wide Circuit-Breaker As AMZN &#8220;Crashes&#8221; 87% After-Hours<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Nasdaq has issued a\u00a0<strong>market-wide trading halt\u00a0<\/strong>amid what appears to be a &#8220;glitch&#8221; that sent a\u00a0<strong>number of the largest Nasdaq-listed stocks to crash or spike to exactly $123.47 per share<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq4_0.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This move crashed the value of companies including Amazon and Apple, sparked chaos in Microsoft, while sending\u00a0<strong>Zynga rocketing up more than 3000%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq5_0.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the eve of the US Independence Day holiday and in after-hours trading,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/fbb44c3e-6053-11e7-91a7-502f7ee26895?emailId=595aefda9bf7250004bb7d7b\">The FT reports<\/a>\u00a0that market data show that companies such as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, eBay and Zynga were repriced at $123.47.<\/p>\n<p>The Bloomberg data terminal listed either<strong>\u00a0\u201cmarket wide circuit breaker halt \u2014 level 2\u201d or \u201cvolatility trading pause\u201d on all the stocks affected.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_NASDAQ.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_NASDAQ.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nThe glitch did not affect any market trading, including after hours.<\/p>\n<p>The mysterious reset to $123.47 per share meant that\u00a0<strong>Amazon in theory saw its share price marked down 87.2 per cent&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq2_0.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>while\u00a0<strong>shares in Apple fell 14.3 per cent&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq3_0.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But Nasdaq-listed\u00a0<strong>Microsoft had jumped 79.1 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 which would value the company at nearly $1tn&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/user3303\/imageroot\/2017\/07\/02\/20170703_nasdaq1_0.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloombergquint.com\/onweb\/2017\/07\/04\/nasdaq-stocks-show-exaggerated-movements-in-after-hours-trading\">As Bloomberg reports,<\/a>\u00a0<strong>the apparent swings triggered trading halts in some securities,<\/strong>\u00a0according to automatically generated messages. The halts are a mechanism exchanges use to limit the impact of particularly volatile sessions. A system status alert on Nasdaq\u2019s website said that systems were operating normally at 8:23 p.m. ET. After-market hours on Nasdaq typically last from 4 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement,<strong>\u00a0Nasdaq said the glitch was related to \u201cimproper use of test data\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>sent out to third party data providers, and said it was working to \u201censure a prompt resolution of this matter\u201d.
