<\/a>A war is raging for control of the narrative between left and right leaning media outlets after a shooter opened fire Wednesday on the Republican congressional baseball team.<\/p><\/div>\n
The Huffington Post pulled a piece calling for the \u201cexecution\u201d of President Donald Trump published Saturday by contributor Jason Fuller.<\/p>\n
Fuller\u2019s piece contained rhetoric and imagery that seems tasteless, particularly after Wednesday\u2019s\u00a0events. Fuller boldly declares in the title that \u201cTrump must be prosecuted \u2014 if convicted in a court of law \u2014 executed.\u201d Fuller\u00a0doesn\u2019t stop there, however, as he insists that \u201cimpeachment isn\u2019t enough\u201d to \u201cdrain the swamp,\u201d and to do so means doling out the \u201cultimate punishment [execution]\u201d in order to fully restore the moral compass of the U.S.<\/p>\n
Fuller\u2019s \u201cultimate punishment\u201d is not only reserved for the president, but also for \u201ceveryone assisting in his agenda,\u201d including Republican Reps. Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan and White House strategist Steve Bannon. Fuller claims that \u201call must face justice\u201d by being tried, convicted and ultimately executed for treason.<\/p>\n
This\u00a0tone comes\u00a0from a man\u00a0who self-describes<\/a> as \u201ccritical\u201d of \u201cbullying and extremism.\u201d Fuller uses the term \u201cexecution\u201d twice and \u201cultimate punishment\u201d twice more thereafter as a euphemism for execution, in a piece claiming that those he disagrees with committed \u201ctreason.\u201d<\/p>\n In light of the\u00a0shooting of Majority Whip Steve Scalise, two Capitol Hill police officers, a congressional staffer and a lobbyist, concerns about over-the-top political rhetoric are at an all time high.<\/p>\n If you visit the link where his diatribe used to be on HuffPost, you\u2019ll receive the message that \u201cthis post from The Huffington Post Contributor Platform is no longer available on our site.\u201d You can recover the cached version here.<\/a><\/p>\n
