The accused shooter who was killed during gunfire at practice for a congressional baseball game Wednesday morning was from Belleville.<\/p>\n

The shooter, according to law enforcement, was James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, who belonged to a number of anti-Republican groups, including one called \u201cTerminate the Republican Party.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump said Hodgkinson died during gunfire exchanged with congressional security workers during the practice session in Alexandria, Va. Those injured by the shooter included House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-Louisana, who was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after undergoing surgery.<\/p>\n

Two days ago, the 66-year-old Hodgkinson posted an angry message about President Donald Trump on Facebook.<\/p>\n

\u201cI Want to Say Mr. President, for being an ass hole you are Truly the Biggest Ass Hole We Have Ever Had in the Oval Office,\u201d he wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n

Hodgkinson belonged to multiple anti-GOP groups on Facebook, including:<\/p>\n

Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., was playing at the congressional baseball practice in the Alexandria, Va. park before shots rang out on Wednesday. He described the chaos that ensued and confirmed House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana was shot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The FBI was investigating Hodgkinson\u2019s postings on social media, and federal agents on Wednesday morning swarmed Hodgkinson\u2019s two-story home on the outskirts of Belleville. Spokesman Dillon McConnell of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said the agency was \u201cconducting emergency traces for a handgun and a rifle,\u201d but declined to identify the weapons types.<\/p>\n
