CNN\u2019s Reza Aslan was recently forced to issue an apology after he called the President of the United States a \u201cpiece of shit.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s not like me,\u201d Aslan said on Sunday, however, previous tweets from the Believer<\/em> host prove he regularly spouts vile obscenities<\/a>, at one time also wishing for the rape of a US congressman.<\/p>\n Back in 2012 Aslan targeted former Missouri representative Todd Akin, clarifying, \u201cJust to be clear I was indeed wishing someone would rape congressman Todd Akin. I\u2019d hate to be misunderstood.\u201d<\/p>\n The 2012 \u201crape\u201d message is under renewed scrutiny<\/a> following Aslan\u2019s controversial tweet aimed at the president.<\/p>\n CNN quickly distanced itself from Aslan following his Trump POS tweet, claiming he\u2019s \u201cnot a CNN employee, but does host a series on the network.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are pleased that he has apologized for his tweets. That kind of discourse is never appropriate,\u201d a CNN representative said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n Aslan, nor CNN, however, have addressed his pro-rape tweet.<\/p>\n The latest controversy for the embattled network follows an ill-thought photo shoot in which CNN New Year\u2019s Eve co-host Kathy Griffin<\/a> was fired from her gig for posing with a bloody head made in the likeness of President Trump.<\/p>\n On Monday, CNN also found itself fending off accusations that it manipulated and staged a Muslim Anti-ISIS protest<\/a> for propaganda purposes.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/stateofthenation2012.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/reza-tweet-215.jpg\")
