Chumley<\/span> – The Washington Time<\/p>\n ANALYSIS\/OPINION:<\/strong><\/p>\n Judicial Watch just launched a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development<\/a>, USAID<\/a>, for records related to taxpayer funding of George Soror-tied political activities.<\/p>\n Go, Judicial Watch.<\/p>\n Specifically, the watchdog group wants to know how many tax dollars have been sent to the Open Society Foundation\u2019s Albania offices, or FOSA.<\/p>\n Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act request to gain access to pertinent documents.<\/p>\n The FOIA suit comes on the heels of a letter six Republican senators sent to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sent in mid-March requesting an inquiry into State Department<\/a> and USAID<\/a> funding of political groups \u2014 particularly of those political groups that leaned left and were targeting Macedonia<\/a> and Albania to spread influence.<\/p>\n The letter, in part, read: \u201cMuch of the concerning activity in Macedonia<\/a> has been perpetuated through USAID<\/a> funds awarded to implement in entities such as George Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations. As the recipient of multiple grant awards and serving as a USAID<\/a> contractor implementing projects in this small nation of 2.1 million people, our taxpayer funded foreign aid goes far, allowing Foundation Open Society-Macedonia<\/a> (FOSM) to push a progressive agenda and invigorate the political left \u2026 This problem is not limited to Macedonia<\/a>, but appears to follow a pattern of alarming activity in this volatile region.\u201d<\/p>\n
