Open warfare broke out between President Trump and CBS this week, with Trump dismissing one of the network\u2019s reporters from the Oval Office<\/a> \u2014 and late-night host Stephen Colbert firing back with a vulgar, 12-minute rant.<\/p>\n \u201cThe only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin\u2019s c\u2013k holster!\u201d Colbert declared Monday on \u201cThe Late Show\u201d during a graphic opening monologue.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cMr. President, I love your presidency, I call it \u2018Disgrace The Nation,\u2019\u2009\u201d he continued, adding: \u201cYou\u2019re the \u2018presi-dunce\u2019 but you\u2019re turning into a real \u00ad\u2018pr-ck-tator.\u2019\u2009\u201d<\/p>\n The bawdy rant came just a day after Trump\u2019s brusque treatment of CBS reporter John Dickerson during a tense White House interview.<\/p>\n The president had the \u201cFace the Nation\u201d host ushered out of the Oval Office after calling it \u201cDeface the Nation\u201d and \u201cfake news\u201d and being pressed about his unsubstantiated charge that former President Barack Obama tapped his phones at Trump Tower.<\/p>\n When Dickerson asked if he stood by the claim, Trump snapped, \u201cI don\u2019t stand by anything,\u201d and stalked away.<\/p>\n Colbert came to Dickerson\u2019s defense \u2014 and made it clear he was standing up for a colleague.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you insult one member of the CBS family, you insult us all! Bazinga!\u201d Colbert said, quoting the catch phrase from the CBS sitcom \u201cThe Big Bang Theory.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDonald Trump, John Dickerson is a fair-minded journalist and one of the most competent people who will ever walk into your office, and you treat him like that?\u201d Colbert said.<\/p>\n The former star of Comedy Central\u2019s \u201cThe Colbert Report\u201d \u2014 where he frequently used the kind of blue material that he rolled out Monday \u2014 then continued to pummel Trump.<\/p>\n \u201cSir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine. You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign-language gorilla that got hit in the head.\u201d<\/p>\n Colbert\u2019s anti-Trump antics have proven a ratings winner for \u201cThe Late Show,\u201d which has eclipsed Jimmy Fallon\u2019s \u201cThe Tonight Show\u201d<\/a> on NBC for 13 weeks in a row. But he remains neck-and-neck with Fallon, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n For the week of April 24, Colbert averaged 2.74 million viewers \u2014 just 2 percent, or 67,000 viewers, more than Fallon \u2014 Colbert\u2019s narrowest margin of victory since his streak began.<\/p>\n During the same week, Fallon saw his biggest victory among adults 18 to 49, a demographic which advertisers cherish.<\/p>\n He outperformed Colbert by 50 percent, averaging a 0.66 rating in the key demographic to Colbert\u2019s 0.44, Fallon\u2019s biggest lead in that age group since the year began.<\/p>\n Conservatives and even some gay-rights activists freaked out over Colbert\u2019s tirade.<\/p>\n \u201cThe amount of liberals defending Colbert\u2019s homophobia is why I will never trust the Democratic party,\u201d author Dorian Dawes griped on Twitter.<\/p>\n Ari Fleischer, former spokesman for President George W. Bush, was not amused.<\/p>\n \u201cIn case you thought the dialogue in our country couldn\u2019t get worse \u2013 or more crude. This is awful,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n \u201cAs of late Tuesday night, the hashtag #FireColbert was the No. 2 trending topic nationally.<\/p>\n \u201cImagine if a Conservative Comedian said that about Obama? He would\u2019ve lost his job & his career would\u2019ve been tarnished. #FireColbert,\u201d wrote Twitter user @Pamela_Moore13.<\/p>\n A rep for CBS did not immediately return a request for comment.<\/p>\n
